It is definitely to early to give up, but radical change needs to take place. Dusty should be fired, Julks traded or sent down, Diaz should start at catcher 4 out of every 5 games and McCormick and Myers should start most of the time, with an occasional start for Dubon. Dubon can give Altuve necessary rest days and an occasional day off for Bregman. Screw all the rest days for twenty-something year old players who don't pitch or catch.
It’s too bad mlb limits the number of pitchers on the active roster. A boss move would be to send down Julks and Kessinger and bring up 2 extra pitchers. Leave Baker with only 11 position players and no crummy hitters except Maldonado.
He's not here for his defense. He's here to be Dusty's sacred cow. Looking at the numbers, Maldy is on pace for a truly hideous season behind the plate. Already at -7 framing runs and -6 DRS. He has to be one of the worst regular starting players in the entire sport.
When your best hitter is on the IL and your next best is still recovering, having TWO of the absolute worst players in baseball at their position is … not ideal. What would be amazing is if we had one of the best hitting players at their position ready to replace one of those two, and if the other were literally the easiest position to fill with a hit-only player. What a world that would be…
I'm against Dusty's stupid lineups as much or more than anyone But he isn't getting fired less than 3 months into the season following a title. Simply not something Crane is going to do. Can you imagine the PR nightmare that would cause Agree with everything else
We have won 6 of Frambers last 7 starts. Only McClanahan has a better ERA in all of baseball, and Framber gives up fewer baserunners per inning than McClanahan If this were the yankmees on a losing streak and Cole was on the hill the national media would be talking about how Cole is about to stop the streak Framber doesn't get nearly enough credit, dude has given up more than 3 ER in four of his last FORTY TWO starts...FOUR Sorry JV but we ain't losing to yo ass tonight
Cool stat about Framber, but remember.... we commit errors and can lose on unearned runs. Plus we have to score
The solution is Dana Brown get a handle on this team like Click used to do. Fuvk Dusty's feelings, he's a ******* moron.
Chas and Jake are going to do what? He is .230-.240 with very little power. That is who they are. That is not going to do squat. Diaz as the #1 catcher? Fine. Again, not going to do much. The problem is no Yordan. Tucker, Bregman, Pena are all below average.
Bregman is a solid player but he is not a star. For whatever reason (juiced ball, scandal breaking) he just isn’t the player he was before 2020. He is a good player. We need more than what he generally provides in the 2-3-4 spots. I think he’s a solid defensive 3rd baseman and a decent, patient hitter who can get on base at a solid clip. In a strong lineup, he should hit 5th or 6th. Too many weak grounders and pop ups to bat 1 through 4.
Bregman's inconsistency is what keeps him from being a star. His ability to not strike out offsets the weak grounders and pop outs. If you add up weak ground outs, pop outs, and strikeouts, Bregman is no worse than anyone else. Even with his weak numbers so far this year, he has a .785 OPS in 2 1/2 yrs since the start of 2021. Not great, but well above average. He has been below .700 OPS in only 3 of 13 months while being over .800 5 times.
Hope that he gets on a hot stretch, and wouldn't mind if it came later this year (i.e. October). Tucker needs to wake the F up. Collectively, need to start putting together better ABs and games.
The hand of Brown has been activated. Next we need Diaz behind the plate, and Maldy on the bench. I'm good with Julks DH'ing while Maldy spectates
