Agreed. I think it’s moot anyway. I think going forward it’s gonna be Diaz as the main catcher. I think Dana is gonna force the issue somehow.
Great job getting blown the f*** out and losing to any and every team these past few weeks. Two more errors today too?!! Even better. Go Go Astros !!! We're streaking
Sometimes you gotta make the call and just not watch. For the past few days, I've kept tabs strictly via the ESPN app with box score watching. It's less upsetting to me. As someone here succinctly put it, if they don't care, why should I?
Our old ace ace JV vs our new ace Framber tonite let’s hope Framber can be that stopper lost 10 of the last 13, two losing streaks (4 games and currently 5 games)
I agree. I like it because they are obviously fans but it is pretty amateurish. Eric frequently starts a sentence and then pauses while he finds what stat or quote he started talking about. Half the time he will start over again once he finds it. He will frequently start a thought and switch in mid sentence to something else. I like Brett, who is much less interested in talking about stats. Brett will frequently say something incorrect about things like how a player was acquired, where or when they used to play or the like. He will qualify it by saying he doesn't remember or may be remembering it wrong, but that doesn't stop him from saying it. Both of them tend to stop what they are doing to answer some random comment, they get and are watching during the live stream, if it catches their attention. They also never tend to have stats or quotes ready when they reference it, so just either mwntion it without confirming or completing it and move on or the podcast comes to a complete stop while they look for it. The bottom line is that it comes across as totally ad libbed with no preparation or researching. I listen frequently though just to hear fans who clearly love the team as much as me.
In every sport there are great teams, players, and managers/coaches who lose it. There are dozens of examples of hall of fame calibur guys getting released because he or the team, sometimes suddenly and unexpectedly, just are no longer playing well enough to justify keeping the status quo. Things can't improve without making changes. This team has hit rock bottom. The question is, do Brown and Crane wait until the offseason to make the changes ( acknowledging that the season is lost) or do they make very tough calls and shake things up now so they can still win this year. Dusty needs to be gone. I think one of them should ask him to resign. Negotiate a buyout or even an extra bonus to leave. He can save face by saying it is due to health or whatever he wants. Let Espada audition for the 2024 job the rest of this year. Then ask Maldy to retire and take over the bench coach job the rest of the season before finding a permanent role for him in the off season. Bring in MLB talent to replace a few various guys who belong in AAA. We all know who they are. Play Diaz at catcher 90% (he's young) with back up starting the other 10%, or bring Korey Lee up to start 2/3 of the time while Diaz starts 2/3 at DH and catcher the other 1/3. When Yordan and/or Brantley return, evaluate how that worked and adjust from there.
This season feels like 2016, sometimes you need to heal and reset. Losing Verlander, McCullers, Garcia, Eurquidy doesn’t help. Obviously the offensive injuries have hurt and the production no shows from Abreu, Bregman early on.
