Again biden has said God save the queen many times before. He said it in 2012 after a mass shooting. Biden is a old boomer who makes bad jokes and he can be guilty of that. He says dumb stuff and has always been an awful speaker. That's why in the 80s he never did speeches as chair cuz he would always screw up. This is from the rally yesterday. Hes going debate trump and win. If you wanna place a friendly wager let me know. You underestimate the drugs the CIA has. He'll be fine
Why are you folks @StupidMoniker folks against basic gun restrictions measures. The 2nd amendment doesn't give you absolute limitless control of having guns. You do more harm for the gun cause by blocking any restrictions. You've completely lost the public
Rural voters have yet to taste the convenience of voting from the couch. Once they do, there will be no going back. The pressure will be too immense for the GOP to not support remote voting for all.
I am against stupid restrictions. I am fine with felons not being allowed to have guns. In fact, if you had a mandatory 20 year sentence for felon in possession of a firearm, you would see a drastic reduction in crime rate, especially violent crime and homicide. Currently, in my county, the standard first time sentence for a felon with a firearm is two years probation and four months in jail (nominally, actually it is a bit less than two, or they can do the work project and spend no time in jail, just clean up trash instead). That would be a meaningful gun control law. Instead, we have BS gun control laws where putting a brace on a pistol reclassifies it as a short-barreled rifle, which is illegal under federal law (and some state laws). Why? Because when they were passing the National Firearms Act, some dunderhead from Minnesota thought that a law that didn't mention rifles at all (originally the text only restricted short-barreled shotguns) would result in deer rifles being outlawed. The AG tried to explain to him that a bill that doesn't mention rifles would not restrict ownership of deer rifles, but he presses forward anyway. Then the AG says, there is no objection to adding the words "or rifles" after shotguns. nfaoa.org/documents/NFA-1934house.pdf (see page 13 of the transcript). Short-barreled rifles of any sort, let alone braced pistols are so infrequently used in crime, I doubt you can find a number for it. Because they are loathe to remove anything from the NFA (lest they be labeled soft on guns) it has remained for 90 years. It is a meaningless restriction. Federally, you are allowed to own an AR-15 pistol (like this Maxim Defense 5.56x45mm AR Pistol with 5.5" Barrel, Urban Gray - MXM50841 | Palmetto State Armory, or PSA AR-15 Pistol 10.5" Carbine 5.56 Nitride Classic EPT, Black | Palmetto State Armory) and you are allowed to own an AR-15 rifle (like this PSA 16" M4 Nitride MOE Freedom Rifle w/ MBUS | Palmetto | Palmetto State Armory). But if you put the stock from the 16" barrel AR-15 rifle on one of the two AR-15 pistols, you are now a felon. You have not made the gun any more dangerous, it shoots the exact same bullet at the exact same speed as it did without the stock. It is only marginally more concealable than the rifle (it is literally the same but 5.5" shorter) and actually slightly less powerful. It makes no sense. In California, it is illegal to have a weapon that fires .50 BMG rounds, but it is not illegal to have a weapon that fires 12.7x108 mm rounds. These are two nearly identical rounds, the second is the Russian version of the first (essentially, the Russian round is very slightly bigger). It is because of nonsense rules like these that do nothing to address violent crime and instead seek only to infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens that I oppose what you call "basic gun restrictions measures".
Why won’t conservatives be tougher on gun crime? Where are the conservative legislators who want mandatory 20 year sentences? Sp far your side has been loosening laws and regulations and we are have an increase in gun crimes.
I don't know how things are going in other states, but California is supermajority democrat. They have been doing everything they can to reduce or eliminate criminal penalties. What few conservative (EDIT: don't know how this got cut off, but) politicians exist in the state don't have the power to do anything. My side doesn't hold a single elected office at the state or national level. The Democrats control all of California as well as the Senate and the Presidency. I don't know who you think is loosening gun laws and regulations, or what laws and regulations have been loosened, but it certainly isn't the group with zero representation.
That might be the case in CA but I’m not aware of TX, FL, OH or any other Republican dominated legislature proposing what you’re suggesting.
Yes, he did a little dance there. I would trade our current legislature and statewide elected officials for his.
It isn't a dance. I have no idea what is being proposed in Texas or Florida or whatever other state. It is enough to have to keep up with California's idiotic legislature.
May I ask you how old you are? You don't seem to be young yet you don't know what us policy has been for the past 40 years regarding taiwan. This country is so clueless Your opinion is supported by a very small share of American electorate. 80% of folks want more restrictions.
Semantics. We do not support their independence but we would put our troops in harms way if China tries to take their independence away.
Did you ever think Biden said that to buy some time with china so they don't attack soon? That gives TSMC time to build out their new Fab factory after biden passed the chips act. TSMC says they'll be done by 2025-26 with the new fab factory. If biden can buy enough time for the factory to be complete than that changes the calculations of defending taiwan as we won't be as reliant for their chips. It's a huge game of chess. Peter zeihan had a great take today about the Blinken trip. It's all a game of intelligence
just like you have no idea what diversity is; that hasn't stop you from parroting the convenient claim that diversity doesn't work.
This is not a surprising revelation to me. I am often at odds with a great deal of the American electorate. My candidate got 1.18% of the vote in the last presidential election. It is a sad fact of life for libertarians. Here is a little experiment for you: take all of the states (or cities if you really feel ambitious) and calculate whatever measure you want to use for diversity and also take murder rate, violent crime rate, or crime rate (your choice). See how they correlate. If you are right, and diversity "works" or "is our strength" or reduces crime, then there should be a strong negative correlation between diversity and murder rate (ie as diversity increases, murder rate decreases). If you are wrong, then there would be either a weak or no negative correlation or a positive correlation. Have at it. I'll get you started with some data sets: List of U.S. states and territories by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia 2020 Census: Racial and Ethnic Diversity Index by State List of U.S. states and territories by race/ethnicity - Wikipedia
my advise to you is to stop publicizing your willful stupidity, and learn/learn/learn about diversity, and then learn some more
Giving up already. I guess you don't want to find out the truth. I guess the math might be too tough for you.
The official US policy since 1979 has been that the US do not support TWN independence. That policy statement is on the US Dept of State website and has not changed (through Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush, …). In addition, the official policy of the US is to provide TWN military weapon for defense and to maintain security for the people of TWN, plus for the US to maintain the capacity to defend TWN for the same goal. Biden stated he would defend Taiwan against unprecedented attack from China. That itself has been a de-facto policy of the US. But he also said that TWN, and I paraphrase, gets to determines her own status. That’s what poked China. His admin has however been clear that the US decade old policy toward TWN security has not changed.
Correct. That’s literally the policy we’ve had for 40 years. Strategic ambiguity. Argue against it all you want but it is the policy that didn’t start with Biden. Here’s the real indicator of what the Biden policy really is: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...s-strengthen-supply-chains-and-counter-china/ The CHIPS act is a good indicator that the US understands the vulnerability to the supply chain long term with Taiwan being relied on so much for our manufacturing with everything being held up with microchip delays. The US’ interests in Taiwan are likely to be declining in the future so China likely sees it as buying time and eventually they’ll be more like how Canada is to the US. Either way, what the Biden policy is hasn’t changed in 40 years, and that policy is making sure that right now YOU and I are able to buy automobiles among other items by walking a tight rope with China and Taiwan…. Oh and preventing a massive war breaking out.
