If this postseason proved anything, it's that it takes more than raw talent or even basketball skills to get to the Finals and win a championship--it takes intelligence and intangibles too. Even if Zion can ever stay healthy enough to play all season and into the playoffs, which I doubt, I also seriously question his intelligence and his desire to win. That is not a man whose first priority is basketball.

 

Portland is the ideal partner for the Pelicans. Simons and the #3 works on the trade machine. Portland is desperate for a win now guy and Pelicans are ready to give up on the injury parade which is Zion.

 

Zion is an all time great level talent - ALL TIME - he is way better than anyone on our team now, has a higher ceiling - and is a top 50 of all time player when he is healthy, THOSE are exactly the types of players you take risks on....and he played at Duke and has a super High BBall IQ.....

Take a shot, keep your core together jettison some of these picks we don't want to use because we have too many developing players and get Zion.

The key is when healthy. He has only played in 25% of games the last 4 years. Why do you think the Pelicans want to trade him? The only thing I would trade is our bench fodder and maybe pick 20. That is a gamble worth taking, although it does screw up you cap flexibility.

 

for all of DD's wild takes, i think he has a great point Zion has more talent than anyone on our roster and anyone who we could draft.

hell has more talent than just about any other young player other than maybe Wembanyama. If I don't have to giveup Green/Smith/Sengun then I'm cool with off-loading the cupboard of assets (provided we get to interview Zion and see where his current head is at).

I do think he really do not think he ever wanted to be in new orleans. i remember a lot of weird stories about him and anthony davis that off-season.
