I think KPJ will end up being better than Green at the end of the day but never get the respect because he wasn’t drafted The organization will never let go of him as long as his maturity continues to improves and solidifies himself as a shooter in the league. He is excellent insurance for Green or any other top draft picks like Amen or whoever that might be a bust Kid has already given up money to help the organization. A 22 year old with all star level potential who obviously wants to be apart of this team. Hard to just trade that away
If they had a fair training camp battle at SG, KPJ would start over him. That’s not how it’s gonna go bc Green was drafted 2nd. I’m a fan of both guys and hope both of them start! We just need a primary facilitator
There are a lot of us that believe KPJ has great potential, just not as the main facilitator. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him starting and bringing the ball up the floor and handing it off to Sengun in the half-court. 6th man would also be great for him, because in that role he could probably dominate with his isolation game, which he seems to prefer. Offenses don’t have to operate in the same manner depending on rotations. There are times when an isolation game, especially when you add in PnR, is what is needed with a lineup.
Only from a few idiots on this board. Rational basketball fans recognize his talent, but believe he has been Mis-used just like every other player on the team. Silas sucked as a coach or was directed to suck as a coach so we could get the 4th pick in the draft.
https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/player/4865/onoff#tab-team_efficiency https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/player/4601/onoff#tab-team_efficiency It looks Green does more for this team. His impact on team scoring efficiency is very high compared to KPJ
I never understood the "best player on the team" takes unless you mean it in a bad way like "if he's our best player, we are doomed forever", which is how i feel about him. Stats don't tell the full story on how bad he actually is on the court.
It's just a fact. The team had 2 competent players, Sengun and KPJ. The rest was absolute garbage.....which is why they lost so many games. What's odd is that so many are trying to prop up the garbage by attacking the few competent players. It's a cult thing I guess. it's funny that stats DO tell how terrible many of the players on the Rockets were on the court....but oddly enough, they don't tell the same story about the few competent players on the team. Wonder why that is? Must be a conspiracy. I mean, the cult of Sengun is super annoying too, but at least they are out here going crazy over a genuinely good player.
It means he cherry picked a stat to try and prove one of the worst players on the team is actually good. Another view of it would be that despite win shares being a compilation stat (meaning the more you play, the more opportunity to collect win shares you have) and Jalen Green playing by far the most minutes on the entire roster, he was only 6th on the team in total win shares....and he was 14th in win shares per 48 minutes. Now, I'm sure he knows that, but he's by far the most devoted Jalen Green apologist on the board, so he'll do whatever he can to try and polish that turd in order to sell people on him.
Like @Hemingway said, KPJ has talent. He was just miscast as a PG by Silas. He did him no favors (or any of our players really). No reason at all for him to get the minimal amount of spot up 3s he did when he shoots amazing from spot up. I said since we drafted Green that their talents overlap and a bit redundant
That's not really true, they don't have skills that overlap...Jalen Green doesn't really have any. KPJ got "miscast" as a PG because the Rockets wasted a pick on a SG that can't shoot, handle the ball, or play defense.....since KPJ ended up as the only player on the team capable of filling in, he was forced to do more than he could manage at 22 while trying to carry a team full of absolutely terrible players.....the worst shooting team in the league. If he had been surrounded by even a few guys who could shoot, it would have looked significantly different.
KPJ + 9 best season, Jalen + 3 best season. Would that equate to KPJ having done more in the league overall? Hence my original point. Because my point is not to show bias. Do I think Jalen has a higher ceiling ? OF COURSE. Does that mean he is a better player at this time? No. That is what many people fail to see when judging players.
