I do believe Brown could compete, I mean he was a key contributor to the current champions. Although he is only 6'4" he plays SG/SF and could potentially be our starting SF. So I think he could satisfy your criteria. He's not a sexy or big signing, but adding a guy like Brown would be a great start. I'd much prefer him to Dillon Brooks, but he'll likely be tough get. Key to our offseason is how we address PG. That's a whole different discussion.
Unless they can get Scoot, PG should not be a priority. Ime has already said that Sengun will run the offense in the half-court. KPJ is fine bringing the ball up and TyTy or someone we draft, Conley or Caruso, will be fine to run the second unit.
Weve committed 2 horrible wretched seasons of losing to YOUNG PLAYER ACQUISITION. We better use this cap space to get better . If we bring in Dillon Brooks and Brook Lopez then the onus IMO will still be on our young guys. (fify) That’s the problem, acquisition not development.
I love Sengun and running a large part of the offense through him is great, but I still believe we need a playmaking PG. I think that would help Sengun by actually having someone that can make decent entry passes into the post.
We, to a certain extent, control FA. Other teams can create some cap space, but our cap space is really valuable and should be used in trades rather than FA signings unless it is Reeves or another youngish vet with upside. We can be the grand facilitator and get useful role players on short term contracts and even more assets for a push for a difference maker after our youth has another year or two to develop. Getting Bridges by taking on Simmons albatross and giving up some of the Nets picks would be ideal, since Bridges is cheap, young, and is signed for 3 years. We could probably somehow facilitate a trade to get Dame or Beal to a contender. In short, hell no to older FA’s that cost a lot of money (FVV, Harden, Dame, Beal, KAT) and yes to gathering future assets while adding role players to help our development path.
man I love that bridges and Simmons idea that would be absolutely perfect if we don’t have to give up this years 4th. give them all their picks back. And others also if needed we have plenty of picks. Bridges would be a perfect fit with our young core and just eat the Simmons contract
agreed . I don’t like how we’ve “developed” our guys . we gifted green and Jabari minutes based on draft position. these minutes haven’t necessarily been good reps . jc and garuba needed to play more , sengun earned more time last year . Tate , I’m convinced we sat out on purpose . if there was a fair competition for the two starting guard spots right now , it would be KPJ and Tate . I wonder how many guys we are gonna move . Sengun, Eason , and smith looked to have developed . Kpj imo took a step backwards this year . Green I’m not sure . I feel like his body did get stronger and he played better as a result of that . Mentally , I don’t think he took a step . He’s got a scorers confidence , but it’s unwarranted more often than not . Need to see him make more passing decisions and focus on defense way way more . Defense #1 I’m up on the bigs , down on the guards . Need to bring in viable experience there and/or make changes with our young guys .
Yeah, I agree. I don't think the max for guys like Harden and Irving will have the kind of impact we need at this point in the rebuild. I'd rather sign some solid vets that Ime can us to help shape the culture.
That’s poor cap management. Might as well take on an expiring for an additional asset, even if it’s just a second rounder.
