    Summary
A late round draft pick shouldn't inspire a ton of hope for fans and Christopher is still very much in development. There's still hope he puts it together but going into his 3rd season, you hope it's sooner than later.
    The Good
    [IMG]
Josh Christopher ABSOLUTELY Locks Up Cade Cunningham & Forces a Turnover - YouTube

I'd say the quality that sticks out the most to me is how good he is at attacking angles with the ball and seeming to be able to get off a quality shot. There have also been points where he seems like a capable perimeter/on-ball defender. He's quite strong, especially for a young guard.

    The Bad
    [IMG]
With being able to get his own shot comes 2 negatives, he's got tunnel vision and he's not a great shooter. So while being able to get a quality shot off, he's missing teammates and shots.

    Just Derp's Opinion
There's really not much to expect. He's ignoring everyone so being a point guard is really not his future, he's not a good enough shooter so being a wing player is a hard sell too. He's a good athlete and does seem to have potential, unless a player is laughably bad (Nix, Lamb) I don't really see them cutting ties before his rookie contract is up.

I think he will be traded before the season starts.

Agreed that JC’s biggest issues are shooting and court vision. But he’s a hard worker a willing defender, and as Derp points out, he’s very good at getting to the rim or getting his own shot.

The problem is that he doesn’t have position versatility. He’s a shooting guard who can’t shoot. Either Christopher or KPJ needs to be moved because we simply don’t have the minutes for all of our shooting guards with vets and a new point guard coming in. And while I would be fine trading KPJ and keeping Christopher, KPJ is the better shooter and has positional versatility, which we badly need.

prediction: Christopher or KPJ (or both) will be traded this offseason.

In his rookie year Jaygup really impressed me by forcing himself into the rotation and getting valuable reps that a #24 pick is not always guaranteed to get. Then in the off-season I knew he’d blown it all. Lots of social media, sоme BS side-hustles (I don’t even remember what it was NFT or something). He cracked the door open as a rookie, but instead of building-up on that, he got distracted and regressed.

Totally agree he’s not a point guard, he’s a wing.

The weaknesses that you mention are the same weaknesses we’ll see from Whitmore if we draft him, there are some similarities between the two. These are not insurmountable, but require hard work and dedication. Let’s hope he can re-focus and if he gets another chance he won’t blow it.

Difference is Christopher is 6'2 and Whitmore is 6'7.

I knew it. Jalen didn't get bigger - Josh shrank.

I had high hopes for him but if he can’t beat out Daishen Nix for playing time then he’ll be over seas soon.

You know... having a 3rd string player that still has potential isn't the worst issue in the world. Can't imagine he's worth much more than a pot sweetener in a deal. And he does seem to be working hard just not progressing... idk. Like I said, I don't expect much so when he comes through big it's a nice surprise. Him breaking into the rotation in a positive way and not in a "we literally have no other options" way would be surprising as hell.
Seriously what the hell is Nix doing here? Talk about low expectations lol even then it's just like... what am I looking at? KJ Martin is only good at one thing and I'll be damned if he isn't dunking the ball once a quarter. Nix, Lamb and Mason Jones. Rec league champions.

I honestly thought JC was one of the worst defenders in the NBA last season. He's decent on ball but he plays like he always thinks he's on ball. Literally will just leave his man open to go chase the person with the ball. It's not unfixable though since it's a mental error but he was the biggest culprit of this last season.

His tunnel vision when he has the ball on offense is extreme.

Last season? You mean 2 seasons ago because last season I do not remember him playing like at all.

Maybe spare minutes and in blowouts.

That is nitpicking on someone who got into the game without any rhythm and being clueless.

He isn’t 6’5” and he won’t play in Houston, needs to be traded.

Many of the contenders have a tunnel vision scorer off their bench. i just have no idea what we're doing with the roster. Nix and Tate have to go. I feel like KjM does too, but like i said..what the hell are we doing? We have a full roster of our picks and a #4, #20 pick incoming. We could literally roll out a full unit and just grow and develop. What room is there for vets without a major shakeup?
Even getting rid of Nix and Tate, you probably still need to get rid of 2 more with 2 picks incoming. Jaygup...and..either KJ or Garuba are most likely right? So Nix, Tate, Gup, KjM AND Garuba all being sent off AND trading #20, for likely 2 vets incoming + #4 and let's say you do get Harden.
    C:Alpy/Vet
    PF:Bari/Vet
    SF:#4/ Tari
    SG:Green/KPj
    PG: Harden/TyTy

I don't see how Harden wants to play with that group. So remove Harden, now you desperately chase FVV(gross but it looks like we're PG chasing). The #4 seems bench bound so a vet can start at the 3 so now you end up with
    C:Alpy/Vet
    PF:Bari/Tari
    SF:Vet/#4
    SG:Green/KPj
    PG:FVV/TyTy
    34 win team?
Even there, you can keep Garuba and Jaygup as end of bench guys, but Garuba likely wants out and KJ would definitely demand a trade. Just doesn't make sense to me. You really want to push for win now without sacrificing the main 3(Alpi/Bari/Green), you have to trade for a star with the #4 and several or all of the Tari, KPj, KJM, Garuba, Tate, TyTy etc. and sign at least 4 vets, but you still don't get your 2nd star, so it's just a lone star and some young guns. 40 win tops. People have us signing Brook Lopez and Harden and Cam Johnson, and having Bari and Alpi both coming off the bench. That's not going to happen and for what? That team is barely a play in team.

Everyone is too desperate to be relevant again. As i've said all along. Stay the course. Trust the process. Grow and develop in house. Some locker room vets may not even be needed anymore with a leader and former player like Ime being the Alpha.
