There were 3 major public health situations when I was growing up: Polio, TB and Rubella (German Measles). Now, imagine for a moment if we'd had this antivaxxer movement back then just how do you think things would have turned out? This subject is personal for me. A cousin contracted polio and died. Two girls from my elementary school died from the rubella virus. In Jr. High a friend's sister died at home from pneumonia brought about by TB. Many children in my elementary school (I was one) tested positive for TB and had to undergo chest x-rays and take medication for years. My grandmother shuttled me back and forth to Jeff Davis Hospital (the only hospital where black people were served back then) for treatment. This was before they'd developed a vaccine - which RFK Jr. and the other antivaxxers would today supress for some bulls**t reason. Sorry, but anyone Joe Rogan, Alex Jones and Aaron Rodgers supports is someone I want nothing to do with.

Im so sick of conspiracy theories.

The anti vax position is fine and all….. but what is left out is the accountability.

I don’t care about what your religion says but if measles flares back up then you should be held accountable.

Don’t want the Covid shot or flu shot then you pay out of pocket when you get sick. The US tax payer or your insurance shouldn’t pick up the tab.

As I said earlier on, the anti vax stance is going to overshadow everything and that’ll actually pull Trump voters away from Trump as it becomes his central issue he’ll have to keep on defending. When you go anti-vax the way he does, you are just naturally going to go down the same lane of online content like QAnon and that stuff will always in the end push you to Trump. It’s a huge electoral problem for him if he runs 3rd party.

If he stays a Democrat and endorses Biden or nobody over Trump, it’s a risk that some small portion of Trump voters follow his lead and don’t vote Trump.

This issue is so big at the moment that it would be like a third party candidate running on Medicare for all with Biden on the ticket. That would overshadow everything and pull away Biden voters.

Agreed. It's usually people who are thoroughly compromised and unable to update their positions as new information comes in, since their positions are determined largely (/entirely?) by their corporate donors.

So you don’t see it as him playing up to the audiences of a pretty left leaning media personality? Taking the lead of the interviewer?

Who is funding Kennedy? If he wins the nomination, am I actually supposed to believe he will eschew corporate donors?

I just don’t see it as you do with him, but I am admittedly distrustful of the conspiratorial candidates and don’t really take them at face value.

I don't think he's just trying to please Glenn Greenwald. I obviously don't know that for sure, but it wouldn't make much sense IMO.

I haven't looked too closely into his funding but I saw it was mainly small dollar donations, similar to Bernie from before, Ron Paul way before that, and many others.

It's good that you are distrustful of conspiratorial candidates and that you don't take them at face value. I would say you could take that a step further and be distrustful of every presidential candidate and don't take what any of them say at face value.

Well please the audience of Glenn Greenwald who make up a chunk of RFK’s base.

If Bernie won the nomination then he would have access to DNC funding. Arguably the only reason Bernie switched from independent to Democrat was the funding and campaign apparatus.

Oh I do, I just find the conspiratorial to be extra distrustful. They have try extra hard to stand out and make a name for themselves instead of offering boring platforms.

I like that he is not a fan of the military industrial complex like Biden and all the other leading Dems and Repugs. The vaccination thing is very troubling. The mainstream media will stay careful away from the military industrial complex issue.

Probably. Hopefully he is truly honest about it and explicitly says he is okay with China and Russia taking what they want.

We've been withdrawing the from ME significantly under Trump and Biden. When Iran seized oil tankers this year, the Biden admin told the world "not the US's problem, y'all need to figure it out". We really are pivoting to Asia.

Also the Biden admin has relatively soured on Israel due to Netanyahu's power grab.

RFK would destroy anyone who tries to debate him on vaccines. No one knows the data and literature more than him.

Q: Rates of childhood infectious diseases have plummeted over the past half-century or so. Are you out to return us to the dark ages?

Kennedy (2017): I am for vaccines. I have been tracking mercury in fish for 30 years and nobody has called me antifish. I am pro-vaccine. I had all my kids vaccinated. I think vaccines save lives. But we are also seeing an explosion in neurodevelopmental disorders and we ought to be able to do a cost-benefit analysis and see what's causing them. We ought to have robust, transparent science and an independent regulatory agency. Nobody is trying to get rid of vaccines here. I just want safe vaccines.

EDIT: I'm trying to keep an open mind here and would very much like to find a full video or a transcript of Kennedy's remarks before a Louisiana House committee regarding Covid-19 vaccines. (The one where he's quoted as calling the Covid-19 vaccine the, "deadliest vaccine ever made.") If anyone's aware of one please let me know.

RFK Jr. holds 15 percent support in Democratic primary: poll

    https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...5-percent-support-in-democratic-primary-poll/

    excerpt:

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. holds a double-digit approval and favorability rating in the Democratic primary in a new poll, the latest sign that President Biden does not have the 2024 race entirely to himself.

In a new Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll shared with The Hill on Friday, Kennedy received 15 percent of support among a sample of the party’s primary voters, with 21 percent of respondents saying they have a positive view of him.

It's funny how RFK attracts the craziest mfers. He would he head to head with trump if he was running in the gop primary
