You are the exact subject citizen that a corrupt government wants you to be. It is easiest to rule a population when they never question anything the government wants them to believe in. If you have some time, rewatch all of the Bourne movies, you may find them a lot closer to all of these so-called conspiracies that people have dismissed for years.

    Wat?

@JoeBarelyCares is literally taking a close look and questioning a candidate for POTUS.

I think you’d better come with more proof than an action spy movie franchise.

I'll give him some props - he married well, even if she admits he is a kook:

    https://slate.com/human-interest/2023/06/robert-f-kennedy-jr-president-campaign-family.html

A sampling of these beliefs? He thinks the pandemic originated at a U.S.-funded lab in China, he thinks 5G networks are killing us, he thinks the 2004 presidential election was stolen from John Kerry … and so on. He’s so far gone that he was suspended from Instagram in 2021 for spreading vaccine misinformation, though he was recently reinstated. But despite holding these fringe positions, Kennedy Jr.’s attempt to trade on his name appears to be working: He’s polling as high as 20 percent among Democratic voters, though as my colleague Jim Newell has explained, many of them may not know the extent to which he’s fallen off the deep end. Kennedy Jr. is also a popular figure on the right, though it’s unclear how sincere Republicans’ embrace of him has been.

Kennedy Jr. is well aware that he and his family aren’t on the same page: At a press conference in April, he said, “My whole family, including myself, have long personal relationships with President Biden … and many of them just plain disagree with me on issues like censorship and war and public health. They are entitled to their beliefs … and I love them back.” Still, he clearly knows how compelling his name alone is to voters. Why else would Kennedy, as CNN pointed out, choose to launch his presidential campaign in Boston, a city he’s never lived in, other than to emphasize his deep connection to Kennedy country?

On some level, Kennedy Jr. might be used to family strife by now. His family has been opposed to his views—going so far as to write op-eds against them at times—for a long time now. Even his own wife has had to distance herself. Last year, Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines, who is Kennedy’s third wife, “expressed disapproval of his anti-vaccine beliefs … after he compared the plight of an anti-vaxxer to the plight of Anne Frank in Nazi Germany,” People reported. Hines does, however, support Kennedy Jr.’s presidential run. At least he has her—Politico reported that “just a smattering of his children and grandchildren showed up” when he launched his presidential campaign earlier this year. In addition to political differences, Kennedy Jr. has inspired interfamily ire over advocating for the release of his father’s convicted killer, Sirhan Sirhan, from prison.

RFK Jr. ranks higher in favorability than other major 2024 candidates: poll

    https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...n-favorability-vs-major-2024-candidates-poll/

    excerpt:

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine activist and environmental lawyer who is running for the Democratic nomination for president, has a higher favorability rating than many of the other 2024 presidential candidates, according to a new poll.

The poll from The Economist and YouGov released Wednesday showed Kennedy was viewed favorably by 49 percent of respondents, giving him the highest net favorability rating of 19 points. He was viewed unfavorably by 30 percent.

President Biden and former President Trump each had the second-highest percentage of respondents viewing them favorably, with 44 percent saying so. But Biden had a minus-9 net favorability rating, while Trump had a minus-10 net favorability rating.

His interview with Glenn Greenwald was interesting. He actually changed his policy position on Israel during the interview because Glenn convinced him that we shouldn't be writing them endless checks. Never thought I'd see something like that from a presidential candidate. It is refreshing.

Hmm I gotta watch that. Israel is more or less a 6th eye. Their existential prerogatives makes it a love-hate relationship, but without them, our foothold in the ME would be much different. .

Refreshing? Or a sign that this is not a legitimate candidate with clearly defined ideas?

    Other than whack-job conspiracy beliefs.

With ranked choice voting Id be all about someone like RFK occupying space in the debate. Even if he stays a Democrat what he’s doing is fine.

However if he truly stands for Democracy in the end once it’s clear he’s not the nominee one would hope he’d act out of the best interest of the country and encourage his followers to vote appropriately.

Something tells me given how his conspiracy theories often intersect more with Trumpers than folks who care about Democracy, I would bet money he seeks third party or write in nomination just to suit his ego and keep his base of closeted MAGA supporters.

Refreshing. Someone made better points than he made. Rather than burying his head in the sand and/or doubling-down, he changed his opinion. Like a normal, functioning human being.

I agree with everything he said there. His anti-vax stance is kind of tough for me to overcome though.
