This should be a non-issue though... I can't remember the last time we were "fighting" tooth & nail to pull out barely-getting-by or run-of-the-luck W's... Call it "the hangover" or whatever you want... but the entire org is and has been complacent af the last 5-6 months... let DaBaked get by with an unforgivable amount of lineup shenanigans and late game choices-- running the gamut on our SP & RP-- they're gonna be smoked come September/October... DaBrow has become the media liaison / pragmatic "hear ye, hear ye" guy... this clubhouse really thinks they are ready to reign??! No accountability / checks & balances for those in charge of certain aspects...?? Make a GD move already... do something that makes fans, players, coaches & the manager SHOOK. Oooo-kk
Pressley goes out on radio to defend Maldy, stating that it's the pitchers who campaign for him, then the two pull this.
yes they determined runner didn’t impede the ability for the fielder to make the play. Meyers pretty much kept his line and the throw tailed in at the end
Astros on pace for 93 wins. Is that good enough to win the division? Not sure. Likely not. My guess is 97.
Has nothing to do with stepping on the bag. He was running outside the running lane at the time the catcher was throwing to first, which clearly COULD affect the catcher’s throw and/or first basemen’s catch. Pretty clear interference IMHO. Either way, they really need to fix the rule if it’s so vague. Astros deserved to lose this after the 2 ridiculous errors. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/rules/fielder-right-of-way
Nats manager said he was proud of his team for "playing their asses off" to comeback and tie it He was just being positive but that's not what happened
LOL. Astros can actually use this win for something meaningful this season, so happy to give it to you.
I don't remember and don't want to but on twitter I was reminded that something similar happened in game 7 when Turner was running. He was ruled safe.
The lane is the three foot wide path that is marked to the RIGHT of the foul line, which starts halfway to first. Meyers was running to the LEFT of the path pretty much the whole way to first (i.e., not in the runner’s lane). The rule is weird, because it requires right handed hitters to NOT run in a straight line to first. It’s stupid.
Correct, a judgement call just as it says hence not reviewable and since Meyers kept his line ump saw no diving back in to interfere with the throw. This happens quite a bit but I agree somewhat vague but a judgement call.
