Exactly. Let's say Walt packed the boxes. It doesn't matter. Trump was subpoenaed for the documents and refused to give all of them back. Then when his lawyers were going to look for the documents he had Walt move some of the boxes.
Holy Moly, to be fair and to ensure Exactly, but trump has to spin this in his own narcissistic way, nothing is ever his fault and this poor dude will eventually find out what all close to trump realize, trump is out for number 1.......he is putting this out there to see what type of response he gets, if it gets traction you will see this repeated.....at some pint poor Walt needs to get his own lawyer, I am afraid he is being set up to fail
Yeah not sure Trump turning on Old Walt is such a good idea. I believe Walt could absolutely bury Trump with his testimony if he were to choose to testify.
While I suspect having trump's aide testify against trump will always be a help, I am betting the prosecution's case against trump is pretty strong with the photographs, recordings and other witness testimony.
The entire reason Trump immediately announced he was running again for 24 is because he knew he was facing legal challenges (at the time I personally believe he was worried about Jan 6/calls to states to overturn results) and needed to either be a candidate or actually be elected again as leverage to get out of jail free. I don’t know why you are shocked about Maddow stating the obvious. Why is it that nearly every GOP presidential candidate has said they’d consider pardoning Trump? Because obviously they know Trump is a transactional person and they know they could become the front runner over night if they worked out a deal with Trump for him to back out and endorse in exchange for a pardon. Where Maddow I think is wrong here is the power that DOJ/ Jack Smith have to promise him anything in exchange for backing out of the race. That’s a political exchange and I don’t think Biden has any intention of getting involved here. This is more of a political negotiation inside of the GOP with Trump. I think Trump believes if he wins against Biden in 2024 (although he has to know it’s a long shot) he can delay trials indefinitely, and pardon himself. He only really has to worry about winning the trial for the Manhattan DA’s case which is the only one which will potentially put him behind bars in time for inauguration given the timing. So if I’m Trump, and I make myself think like him for 2 seconds, I dangle the GOP pardon exchange till the last minute if I need it, and try to get the best lawyers money can buy for the p*rn star payment case.
Looks like we're going to find out if a guy in jail can win an election (primary or otherwise). America, don't let me down!
Also to point out neither he nor an anyone else who might end up as US president can pardon him for state crimes. Both the ny and possible GA charges are likely to be state charges.
Correct and I’m guessing he thinks he can beat the clock on Fulton County and get the case in front of a judge who will delay trial till after his presidency. From a timing perspective I would think Trumps advisors are telling him put everything you can into the Manhattan case and hope you get a Trump friendly judge in the GA case which could very easily happen.
Even if he gets the case delayed doesn’t guarantee they go away. As far as I know There is no state policy against indicting a sitting President.
Being the narcissist he is, IMO he got into the race to avoid jail and he knows that if he can just get to the white house again all his problems will go away, one way or another wink, wink. But he always says he will never settle and then ends up settling but I think this time its white house or bust in his fragile mind. The only way he takes a deal is if somehow the trial starts before the election, once that happens all the evidence will come out and I expect that Jack didn't lay all his cards on the table and there is quite a bit more that fringe gop members might be turned off by. trump will not go away quietly like Nixon did, its scorched earth from here on out, he literally has nothing to lose and he will protect himself at all costs........hell, I would expect him to throw his dang kids under the bus if it helped his cause
I don’t think Trump got into the race primarily to avoid possible jail time. I think he whether charges were coming or not his ego demanded he run again. Also as shown with donations and selling stuff like NFT’s it’s a great way to keep on making money.
I think a state prosecutor would have a very hard time proceeding in a case against an elected president. And that's probably appropriate too. If Trump can delay long enough to win the election -- and then wins the election -- then he can probably delay until after his term is over. Then, how much longer till he's dead anyway? He could conceivably delay his trials into oblivion. It's important, therefore, to process his trial(s) expeditiously and be done before the general election. Literally in this case, justice delayed is justice denied.
