Wallace appears to have joined the cast of thousands who will be drafted before the Rockets 1.20 pick.
Wallace appears to be the most well rounded pg in the draft. Excellent defense and he can shoot it better than Henderson, Amen and Black. Anyone know why Wallace isn’t higher on these mock drafts/draft boards?
I barely watched Kentucky this year, and am leery of evaluating guys through highlights. But those numbers and considering he wasn’t even healthy most of the season coming back from injury…..very intriguing. Maybe I’m just desperate for a top pg prospect. Feels like this guy could step in day-1 for some team. Not surprised he may have a promise at #8.
Wallace’s NBA position is PG. And he was the second best PG on his college team. Half the game is defense. Wallace’s D should translate from college to NBA. Playing PG in the NBA is damn hard. The road to the NBA is littered with “can’t miss” PGs who have missed.
I’m high on wallace as well, but not #4 high on him. If we get Miller or cam at 4, I’d be ok trying to trade up for him.
The new rule is, every year we have to have a UK PG sitting on the bench and not playing. ‘21 Wall ‘22 Washington ‘23 Wallace? Yeah, also their name should start with ‘Wa’
I don't think Wallace was ever considered a non-lottery or near-lottery pick. Most places I know of have had him in the top 12-14 picks forever.
Wallace shot 35% on the year from 3. He shot worse when he was open? Sounds like he hits tough shots.
Yes… and yes. I like Wallace, I am just saying I don’t think we should assume he will help us from 3, at least as a rookie.
IIRC he shot great at the beginning of the year (like actually phenomenal) but then started suffering back spasms and his 3P% went way down.
He did go cold in the middle of the season, but I wasn’t aware of spasms. I see Wallace as a very good 3rd guard that can take all the meaningful bench minutes between the 1 and 2, will defend well, play hard and make enough plays to force you to guard him. Guys like that are very important on elite teams.
I hear ya. Watching video of him, he was seemingly the only Kentucky player who could shoot the 3. Wheeler sure couldn’t. The opposing defenses seemed to focus in on that from what I saw.
