Green and Jabari? All those Sengun haters have 2 things in common. Lack of basketball knowledge and being a KPJ stan.
For Sengun fans, saying someone like Green is more important and has higher value is an attack on Sengun. That's the type of discourse there is. Sengun gets near universal praise outside this context. Non Rockets media go in to two camps. There is the narrative hot take camp that usually only follows playoff teams and just follows Twitter echo chambers for their takes on bad teams as they never have intellectual curiosity to follow bad teams. This leads to your generic takes where naturally someone in that position will **** on the black athletic scoring guard archetype and praise the high efficiency white big man archetype. The analysts who actually follow bad teams like KOC have more nuanced takes and understand that the Rockets have multiple high end pieces to build around and it isn't something as simple as "just build eous Sengun" or "just build around Jalen"
Are you going to "ship out" when he is our starting center playing 35+ minutes all season? Sengun is my current favorite player right now but I became a Rockets fan when Moses Malone was patrolling the paint. If they were foolish enough to trade Sengun I would definitely follow his career but I will still be a Rockets only fan.
There are very few people who dedicate time to hating Sengun. There are a lot more people really high on Sengun who will **** on Green mainly due to the archetype narrative of flashy black scoring guard with mumbled speech patterns vs "high IQ" white big man and that subconscious notion of archetypes guides them.
This is how the logic goes: Some people believe A. A few people who believe A would kill for A. Therefore, all people who believe A would kill for A. Therefore we should hate all those who believe A. And we should hate A.
I'm just telling you the logic used by a lot of people here. "A" can be any player or anything. Here's another one: I love A. I must say A is better than B. Therefore B must be worthless and A must be flawless. Therefore all those who like B must be dumb. If they are so dumb, hating them makes me smart.
Every time I walk into this thread I instantly regret my decision. People have to learn how to have opinions without attacking others who feel differently.
That wouldn't be a surprising move for a franchise that put Kevin Lolter Junior at the center of the rebuild.
Odd indeed. After watching Sacramento (and Denver to a lesser extent), I'm all in on the Jalen + Sengun pairing but apparently (if Iko is correct) the Rockets have a different vision... or at the very least want more options.
