Dude thinks he's a basketball guru because he keeps telling 3 point shots and defense are important in basketball. LMAO. You are lucky i don't bother going through your posts from few months ago to show how little you know about basketball.
Just grow a pair and admit that you have been dead wrong and you know very little about basketball instead of embarrassing yourself and providing laughter for others.
LMAO -- DEAD WRONG ABOUT WHAT????? You guys have your pitchforks and torches out and are ready to revolt and have no clue what you're mad about. You're a caricature of the world at large and the cult mentality that pervades every day life. A wet behind the ears contributor who hit this board swinging at everyone who didnt spread their ass open for "I Love Sengun" jerk fests and are probably not a Rocket fan if your baby daddy isnt on the team right? GTFOH and go annoy someone of your own stature you pleb.
1) your initial premise was jokic(post players) cannot win in the playoffs, which later evolved to he cannot win championships, and later evolved to Denver is playing 3d. All wrong!! 2) Did you say Jokic will be played off the floor, or was it maj? I am sure you liked all of those posts anyway. So you were wrong!! 3) you call Jokic an outlier but a team with 4 all stars including a best shooter of all time, who also can play off the ball and a center that can lead the defense and pass on offense(a very unique type of center) is just normal. That golden state team is the definition of outlier. So you are wrong 4) Or the other teams that has the best player of all time. Those are outliers. So you were wrong. Yet you bundle them with all the others. Wrong! 5) Your argument about what wins an nba championship is entirely wrong!! It deserves a separate post and I will do it because it relates to rockets and Sengun. The fact is all championship teams have unique elements, they are all outliers in some sense. And there is no formula that bundles them. You can learn from them though. The most common elements are a winning culture, good supporting cast and a good coach.
The argument has been made on this board that the "passing post up big who doesn't play defense" cannot win a championship. It was used as one of many arguments to disparage Sengun. I'm not going to search through to find the posts, but I'm 100% sure this argument has been made multiple times by multiple people, and I'm about 95% sure you have agreed with it in your own posts or by liking those posts. Anyone who made this argument has now been proven wrong. Maybe I'm off here and you never made/agreed with this argument, but anyone who did has been definitively proven wrong.
See you tout yourself as a more refined contributor, but still fall victim to the hype. "Im sure you liked all those posts" are you guys f'king kidding me right now? Am I throwing a monkey wrench in your jerk off session? This little popularity contest you have going is a new level of cringe even for this place. Golden State is the outlier??????????????????? Wow we have reached the Twilight Zone. Im pissing myself with excitement to hear a long winded pat on the back regarding NBA basketball from a euro.
Did that not hold true until this year? So Jokic bucked the trend for a season - alright here you guys go :golf clap: .. while you may be right that some people held onto a post heavy team to a flaw it was still rooted in fact. Until this year. Using your logic I can cross the chasm and say that plenty others have tried to paint a picture of Sengun being a foregone conclusion to reaching Jokic levels of play or even exceeding them! Im sure there might be a middle ground somewhere, but the battle lines were drawn long ago. I suppose when I said that "DEnver plays 3&D and has the luxury of playing inside out as well" it was just drowned out by all the beating of chests going on.
The archetype of Jokic was not sought after before Jokic's rise. He was drafted in the second round. Second round guys don't get many minutes their rookie year. Those stats are more indictive of Jokic being an unknown commodity his rookie year. Look at his second year. Jokic has a massive lead in advanced stats(VORP, BPM etc)
Man most threads are just toxic now … I pretty much just scroll until I see a twitter post or something …geez
I thought i wanted them to admit that they're wrong, turns out watching them embarrassing themselves with their nonsense posts is much more fun.
I don't know why you're being so weird about this. It doesn't mean you have to support Sengun now. It doesn't mean you have to change any of your stances. It just means that this one particular claim is false. You have a mountain of arguments you've used and your stance is strong enough, just because one of your arguments has been discredited doesn't really change anything, it just means that one thing was wrong. It doesn't matter how many times it's disproven, it doesn't matter if it held true until this year, it only needs to be disproven once for it to be a false claim.
Very good post. I think you are very well reasoned poster. I don’t think Jokic is such an outlier. I do think passing big men that can both play in the post and set up offenses is on the up-tick. The NBA is constantly re-defining itself. Denver’s victory did signal that there are multiple ways to win. The Kings success this year, the fight over Wemby and Sengun’s emergence also point to more flexibility than just a purely three point and guard centric offense being the only way to win in the NBA. The Bucks won with a clay footed center and a superstar that couldn’t shoot 3’s. I would say the Lakers were well balanced between Post play with AD and outside play.
That team was the definition of 3&D my guy. Giannis focused on great team defense and collapsing an opposing defense using a face up game with drives while kicking out to shooters. Denver takes a stationary point of attack in Jokic who is also a FANTASTIC passer and inverses that action into a bunch of movement via picks and cuts that lead to wide open outside shots. Denver did buck the trend in terms of slower paced teams winning it all which is not altogether super impressive considering that hypercritical games will slow down on their own as each possession becomes invaluable. Jokic is a very unique player. Huge guy with unreal court vision that can typically bully his way to the rim while ALSO hitting 42% of his threes during the Finals! Tip the hat awesome there's only one guy like that in the NBA right now so replicating that is not likely to happen. I dont even think DEN finds themselves in the Finals again next season for whatever its worth.
. If what you say is correct in terms of big man impact in critical NBA games then WE should be in the drivers seat. Just have to hold out hope that Sengun can have the same type of impact that Jokic has for Denver.
LOL what is weird? That I stated an emphasis on maximizing and using the 3 ball as a weapon in unison with selling out on defense has been the blueprint for X amount of years? Denver incorporating that and making it their own is a cool and new wrinkle. Saying that what has happened over the last decade doesnt matter because of what just happened is gaslighting to an extreme in a similar vein that some guys tell you Sengun is a good defender with a straight face.
