One of the more plausible scenarios being offered around here. I would do it IF that 30M didn't preclude us from getting the guys we want that will be around after one year.
Kudos to @DaDakota FOR THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX!! Shame on @DaDakota for COLORING OUTSIDE THE LINES!! Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
Give me thirty one million reasons, Givin’ me thirty one million reasons, Give me thirty million reasons …money still rules this capitalist system
What's not to like about it, maybe the fact that Chris Paul doesn't want to be here and won't come here, and the "secret agreement to cut him in february" is unworkable/probably not even allowed. But other than that it's flawless.
This team is trying to make the playoffs. If CP happens to sign with us for the money, we end up being in the fight for the playoffs and we cut him, much less CP walks away from unfinished business, that is ludicrous. CP might sign for the money, but he ain’t leaving unless we suck.
Lakers can't offer him what the Rockets could. I'm coming around to trading for CP3 and having him for those two seasons. That's if CP3 wants this and he probably doesn't.
We could trade for him if we really wanted to make it happen. Something like just Tate or KJ for CP3 straight up. The problem would be if he just pulls an Iguodala at Memphis and refuses to come in all year.
Really? Because we can pay him 30m and he won't get that elsewhere....so he plays 6 months here, makes his full 30m probably 10m more than any other offer and then gets cut to go to a contender of his choice..... DD
No way the Rockets chance NBA censure for an under the table deal like that. Some out of the box thinking is just asinine.
I’d rather give Cam Johnson $30 mil, which Brooklyn probably can’t match. Pretty sure CP3 has plenty of money and will get paid enough while getting to chase a ring.
This thread just shows double d is just throwing out any name to avoid the return of harden. Why would we pay an aging pg 30 mil for a half season rental just so we can cut him loose for him to ring chase? How does this benefit the org and the players aside from half a season of solid pg play and vet guidance assuming he doesn't get injured. We are now in the need to push for playoffs. Double d sounds more like an agent for cp3 than a Rockets fan with this proposal
Probably, but what if they see concern w his hamstrings? Can a contender commit to a serious role for him knowing there’s a decent chance he get injured in playoffs, again? I think contenders will offer him deals but maybe not the role he wants. I think there is potentially a chance he chooses the role AND the money and comes to Houston. Assuming he doesn’t hold a grudge against the organization for how things ended. He got overpaid, so he can’t be mad at us.
