Altuve and Bregman are the only ones left He would be fine, if healthy, and not striking out at a huge clip
As someone else mentioned, Jays are right behind Houston in the wild card spot. And if you don't think Bellinger would fit in the lockerroom can't the same be said for Whitfield. He basically said Altuve stole his all star spot in 2017.
You would think Brown would ask them before making a trade. Or at least Crane would ask and if they say no, he'll tell Brown no, not a chance
The real move is to trade Tucker right now if you can get a Juan Soto type package. he would immediately be, by far, the best player on the block and if you can rebuild the farm and get a couple above average major league ready type players that you have 6 years of control that’s probably worth giving up 2.5 years of Tucker if you are going to make zero effort to resign him. to be clear- I want to offer Tucker a 10/300 M type extension tomorrow. It’s just if you don’t want to make that offer, or he doesn’t want to sign that, I’d be more interested in a big prospect return for him. 2B, 1B (or 3B) and a possible MOR guy would do a lot relieve salary concerns going forward and give them money to fill in where need be or extend some of their own. In the same way they traded Correas production for 80 cents on the dollar but paid 1/50 of the cost to Peña they could move Bregman out and repurpose that 30M and maybe, finally, solve 1B.
Altuve and Breggy strike me as guys who would let that slide for a chance at eternal glory. They want more rings because they are competitors. I don't see them holding grudges and I can't see Bellinger turning down a chance to contribute on a WS contender. If he performs great, he gets rewarded immensely.
No. Trading him is basically say FU to the fans while hurting your chances at making the postseason. You pull that trigger in the offseason, not middle of the season.
Tucker is hurting the team with being a lazy ass and pouting , though to a degree. I'm sure we can overcome it, but he's a part of the problem.
I agree. I said in the past, everyone has the same goal. Win the World Series. Plus Bellinger is playing for a contract, preferably a multi year deal so it's not like he's going to be bad on purpose. He's going to keep trying to come up big. And it's not like they have to hang out on off days. They just need to coexist in the lockerroom and on field. Also it would be funny to see Dodgers fans see Bellinger winning with Houston.
When one guy is hurting the team with being a lazy ass and under performing you can overcome it. When several of them are being lazy asses and under performing you have to go higher up to solve it. I have seen more guys trotting to first, being out of place, being sloppy enough to make routine plays into nail biters this season than I have in recent memory.
I think that would depend on if the deal improves the team immediately or just in the future. Been looking at a 3 team trade w/ Milwaukee and Boston. Milwaukee needs offense badly. They are on pace for playoffs but last on NL in runs and OPS. Boston looks for players who will improve the team as soon as next season as they are not looking to rebuild but capitalize on rentals and players with limited control remaining. I'm sure this needs work but: Brewers get: Kyle Tucker from Astros and Justin Turner and Adam Duvall from Red Sox. Red Sox get: Jeferson Quero and Ethan Small from Brewers and Pedro Leon, Jayden Murray, and Jairo Solis from the Astros. Astros get: Corbin Burnes, Brian Anderson and Jacob Misiorowski from Brewers and Alex Verdugo, and Chris Martin from Red Sox. I'm sure there are issues and that needs some adjustments. It's a work in progress.
I kind of wish they could trade for Bellinger before they head to LA for the three game set. Would be nuts.
He’s 35% more valuable if you trade him now vs the off season. He might get a Soto like package now. He won’t on the off-season.
Won't happen but a trade with the Mariners involving Tucker could make sense for both teams. They will need an outfielder and a 2nd baseman. Teoscar is a free agent and Kolten Wong sucks. Mariners get Kyle Tucker and Mauricio Dubon Astros get Teoscar Hernandez, Ty France, Paul Sewald, and Logan Gilbert
LoL Mariners wouldn’t trade just Gilbert for Tucker and Dubon, much less throw in France, Hernandez, and Sewald.
We can all dream. Problem I was having is I wouldn't do Tucker for France, Hernadez, and Sewald. So had to get creative.
I'd do it and still look for another bat. I'd also look at calling up Lee and moving Diaz to DH or 1B moving Abreu to DH. See what regular ABs for Diaz would do for him
