That must be why he has the highest trade value on the Rockets.

@larsv8 is literally the worst poster on this board. Tries to hide behind Clutch not liking Sengun either.

I never claimed he was a defensive plus, but he’s nowhere near the worst defensive player on this team or in the league

The stats clearly show that Tari and Alpi are the best defenders among the top 6 in minutes.

He tried soooooooo hard to find a stat he could cherry-pick to try and make Sengun look bad...then he said he "doesn't have to make things up"...yes he does.

Rarely have unsuccessful attempts at condescension and cluelessness been blended better than in @larsv8's posting style.

The issues is, the creators of Raptor don’t put as much stock in on/off as they do box raptor

    Yes, they state it:
    • RAPTOR consists of two major components that are blended together to rate players: a “box” (as in “box score”) component, which uses individual statistics (including statistics derived from player tracking and play-by-play data), and an “on-off” component, which evaluates a team’s performance when the player and various combinations of his teammates are on or off the floor.
    https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-our-raptor-metric-works/

So the individual defensive performance is actually measured by the "box" RAPTOR. And he does well on that one.

Let's not forget that he had to share the court with Daishen freaking Nix a lot last season. And that most other players with the exception of Tari and Garuba completely sucked at defense. So no kidding, the "on-off" Raptor will look bad.

But of course @larsv8 deliberately misrepresents the data, desperately trying to make Sengun look bad.

Sengun wackos discover positional distribution of raptor - a very March 2023 idea.

Average Raptor by positional designation 2003-2019:
    Code:
POSITION OFFENSE DEFENSE COMBINED OFFENSE DEFENSE COMBINED
    PG +1.00 -0.50 +0.50 -1.10 -1.65 -2.75
    SG +0.20 -0.55 -0.35 -1.50 -1.25 -2.75
    SF -0.05 +0.05 +0.00 -1.90 -0.85 -2.75
    PF -0.50 +0.25 -0.25 -2.30 -0.45 -2.75
    C -0.90 +1.10 +0.20 -2.70 -0.05 -2.75

If ScamFisher is trying to imply that "the center looks better in Raptor", well, let's look at the Suns, for example.

    upload_2023-6-12_21-14-46.png

Deandre Ayton signed a 4 year / $132,929,128 contract with the Phoenix Suns, including $132,929,128 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $33,232,282. In 2023-24, Ayton will earn a base salary of $32,459,438, while carrying a cap hit of $32,459,438 and a dead cap value of $32,459,438.

    lol

You serious? First off, it’s Dame one of the best scoring guards in the NBA and he was on fire. All but maybe 2-3 bigs out there would have ended up with the same results when left on an island with him. To take this game and try to use it against Sengun or any young big is ****ing stupid. This is ignoring the fact that Silas did **** all to adjust and just let Dame do anything he wanted with zero resistance. Secondly, I watched that game and a chunk of Dames damage came from downtown and at far distance at that. Many of those came at the expense of our own backcourt but you haters only remember when he hunted out Sengun.

LMAO @larsv8 lying about what on/off RAPTOR means.
The individual performance is actually measured by BOX RAPTOR.

The reason both Sengun and Jabari look terrible in ON-OFF RAPTOR is that THE TEAM LOOKED TERRIBLE.

Yet, @larsv8 lies and tries to pin it on Sengun individually (of course completely ignoring that Jabari looks even worse).

If box raptor is based on individual statistics wouldn't big men have more opportunities for defensive individual statistics? Are guards or bigs more likely to get defensive rebounds or blocks?

Sengun only played 25 minutes in that game, Lillard played 39. Silas was fanboying instead of being mad or adjusting. Lillard made 13 threes. Where was the perimeter defense?

    upload_2023-6-12_21-35-49.png

That was Lillard's shot chart. His points near the rim (including a dunk where Jabari fouled him) largely came when Sengun wasn't even on the court.

Clearly, all the points scored from a distance were ALL Sengun's fault. Even if he was on the bench at that time.

Goes to show how ridiculous haters like @SamFisher and @larsv8 are.
