They’d have Tucker for 3 stretch runs and they also line competing. I don’t think he’d be a waste for them. I agree it isn’t happening. He’s in my top 10 of trade value assets (Ramirez) and might have the best contract that doesn’t exist because guys were having a ton of their club control years bought out.

It's 14 starts, two of which have been atrocious. The K rate is concerning; it's been on a steady decline. But I don't think he's a 6-7 K/9 guy long-term. He's not the only previously very good pitcher to struggle early this year. I think the clock is having an affect, and I suspect his second half will be significantly better.

I might believe that is he had gotten any better since the start of the season. His second month this season was significantly worse than the first month when the pitch clock should have had the biggest impact.

I sure as hell wouldn't give up anything significant hoping Bieber has better stuff he's been keeping in his back pocket and is gonna return to dominating.

Marcus Stroman's option is actually negative value because it is a players option, so it only gets exercised if he gets hurt badly or falls apart on the field. Stroman is another guy that has been negative towards the Astros and 2017.

I suspect a team like the Rangers or Dodgers will likely get him. The Rangers are willing to go all in, and have the prospects to make a deal.

    Meh - I wouldn't release Abreu.

His OPS for the last month is like .650 and for the last few weeks is approaching .700...

They have held on to him this long, they should see if he continues to crawl out of the hole.

He has hit a couple homers in the last few weeks and he had two others that were very close to being a homer, one that would have been a homer in 28 other parks.

    The Astros wouldn't do that.

Beiber has seen his strikeout rate fall from 14 per 9 to 6 per 9 innings.... his FIP has risen and his velocity is down.

He is still getting players out - but he isn't the same quality of pitcher right now or for the post season.

The Rangers or Orioles or Yankees or Dodgers can over pay for one year of Beiber if they want.

When you read about what Dana wants Luis Arraez is everything there looking for in a Left handed bat. He plays 2B, 3B, DH, LF and can Play RF.

I agree he’d be a great target but barring something crazy he won’t be available. Marlins are 8 games over .500 and he’s their best player.

At some point the Cards will decide to sell. They are very smart and will play the odds. They have some good lefthanded bats: Edman, Donovan, Nootbar, Carlson, Gorman (who would be very unlikely to be available). Carlson or Nootbar would make for a stellar OF defense and either guy might make a good platoon partner for McCormick in LF. Donovan is probably the best match since he can play 1B but he has so much control left the price would likely be high. Also not sure how Houston matches up with the Cardinals; they need SP. Maybe if they really like JP France he could be a start for somebody like Carlson.

Luis Arraez is 26 years old and has a 450 OBP........ and will win his second batting title this year and has 2 years of team control after this one.

The cost to trade for him would be very high - right now he looks like a Rod Carew clone.

Not sure. They have a better chance of coming back in that division and snagging at least a WC spot than the Phillies did last year. They’re significantly underachieving but should have the talent to turn it around (barring health)

Coincidentally, they are the two most recent batting champions to be traded after winning the batting title - and both were traded away by the Twins. However, why is everybody thinking the Marlins will be sellers? They are well above 500, currently sit in the second wild card spot, and are only 3.5 behind the Braves in the East. If anything, I think they buy.

Royals GM just confirmed they aren’t trading Perez, so we can cross him off this list.

I have wondered that as well. I could see them decide they are sick of Soler’s antics but I don’t see them being heavy sellers.

It would be pretty amazing to pick up Chapman and have him have success AGAINST the Yankees in the post season lol

They are asking for a lot. I would actually rather have Barlow. They are asking less for Barlow and he has an extra year of control I believe. Chapman is one of the rare players that his own teammates don’t like. Between the drinking, complaining and lack of discipline- he would likely stretch what the other Astros are willing to tolerate.

The difference between Chapman and Bellinger is that Bellinger’s teammates like him- not the case with Chapman
