That is what development is. Players also hold back to get to whatever team they want now. PreDraft hype is all about the momentary snapshot of what is going on at that exact moment.....it is stationary. To make a decision from that and march madness, it is hard. And all the info from when the players were younger. It is hard.
After that Banchero debacle, nobody believes you, NBA. Lol Kevin OC. Scoot actually works just as fine next to Lamelo who should get better as a shooter and is often injured.
I also think what makes it harder is performance is tied to hard work, ambition and skillset gain which you can't really predict from 1-2 yrs of watching the kid. Franz Wagner is one example, people thought he wasn't top 5 material no mock had him in the top 5. But look at him now he has blown everyone in his draft class after just 2 yrs basically became one of 2 good 3 pt shooters on the Magic while playmaking and defending guys 1-4.
Yeah I honestly doubt Scoot doesn't go 2. Even if Charlotte doesn't like him they can trade the pick for say Mikal Bridges just cuz it's Scoot. Honestly despite all the posturing I still think it goes as intended Wemby Scoot Miller and Rox will most prob get Amen (a mistake imo but I'm fine with the generational 6'7 athlete lol)
Something is telling me that Miller may actually be there at #4. I can see GM's being afraid of the murder case and what might happen to him in addition to the optics. Wait and see what happens to Ja after the finals. That might influence GM's decision come draft night. His role in the murder that night is FAR worse than anything Ja has done so far.
My updated perspective is that Wemby, Scoot and then Amen (to Portland) leaving Miller for us. Im fine with that but actually prefer Whitmore to Miller by a bit.
Why could the nets want to give up a young player who is averaging 26pts on 61TS% who plays D plus actually plays games for an unknown rookie. Its not like this rookie is a Lerbon level prospect.
I think so too. I realize that at the end of the day most teams don't care about character nearly as much as they do about winning, but the Ja thing doesn't hold a candle to this. He's too good to realistically fall very far, but I could see him possibly being there at 4.
Imagine starting out your career and 3 months in you are in court for your role in a homicide case that's getting national attention. The league ain't gonna be on your side, especially when you were the one who had possession of the gun and personally handed it to the murderer. That's 100x worse than taking a pic of yourself with a gun in your hand. After Portland's rough patch as the Jailblazers era I don't see them wanting to be tied back to that again especially with Lillard being very frustrated with the current direction of the team. I see Portland trading the pick or taking someone else.
Did he ‘personally hand him the murder weapon’ or did he just bring the guy’s car there? Big difference.
Miller is too nice of a pick for Portland if they're trying to keep Dame and keep the guy they draft. If he's the consensus BPA when they pick I think there's a high chance they take him. But they do like toolsy, athletic guys, so it's possible they think Amen is the better prospect of the two (which I would personally agree with). I wish I could see them passing on Scoot to take Amen. But I just don't see it.
Be nice if it happened but the top 3 are on a level that Amen isn't as far as what they've put on film. I like Amen's potential though. I hate that the media hypes all these false hopes up. They need to stop all that nonsense.
Either way, he brought the gun to the murderer. It doesn't sound like he's getting charged with anything but you never know, new evidence can point to him being involved when it wasnt shown before especially if they are looking to put all possible accomplices behind bars. I think drafting him is a big risk for any team.
This is a concern for me as well... Ja's issues should be an object lesson for teams on taking this stuff seriously.
I hope it is Amen at 4 but I believe Brandon Miller is going to drop at the draft. Charlotte do not want to deal with the optics of another player with legal problems. The Blazers love Amen and Charlotte will choose Scoot. I believe Houston is in love with the Thompson Twins, Amen or Ausar
Which is why he might fall to us at 4, those questions. But let’s be real, if your friend says I’m in a situation and need my weapon, a lot of us would drive his car up there if only to have his back and calm him down. Handing him the murder weapon like some second in a duel is a different situation. His intent was likely just to help his friend.
You're probably right BUT if your friend is calling you to bring him his gun instead of calling the cops then there is something wrong there in my view. I'm all for the right to self defense but if you find yourself in a situation where you think you might need a gun and don't have one, it's too late. You should be calling the cops to be there to protect you instead of a friend to hand you a gun to shoot back. Calling a friend for a gun sounds like a desire to murder someone not to defend yourself. Your phone works, call the cops. Unfortunately for Miller he is either too young to think this thing through with some logic and not get himself involved OR he is too street and is down to support this kind of vengeful and malicious act. They say wrong place at the wrong time but I think he knew what he was getting himself into and it didn't bother him.
