    PC or retro here.

But depends on your gaming tastes. Four Switches in my house.

Steam Deck. Pc games on a handheld. +console emulators = 10k’s of games. Docking station + Xbox controller + tv = home console.

Do you want to just plug your **** into the wall and play?

    If you do, console.

Just get a PS5. There is no more Sony vs Microsoft battle when it comes to consoles. It's over. Sony won. Microsoft has recently admitted as much.

I've had Sony and Microsoft consoles. I have enjoyed both. Not fanboying here. They're both great. But if it's all the same to you - that is, if you don't have any strong allegiances - then just go with the PS5.

Well you might want to take 3 months to learn the ins and outs of how to build a computer from scratch for triple the price, so you can have more modifiable gameplay (you know how you luv moddin gameplay right Buck??) and so that that it performs trivially better to a trained eye... as long as you have the right 3 thousand-dollar TV, top of the line wired internet and controllers, have your seating an exact amount of feet from the screen, and are up to date with your glasses prescription and what not, if that's you it's a no brainer.

    Hold on Buckeroo

I have both systems, I have both game pass and ps plus Premium.

Xbox with game pass ultimate is easily my recommendation for a casual gamer, the value/quality of the game library is just much better. Xbox also has a superior app selection & interface for those looking to use it as a media console and not just for gaming. Unless someone has a particular yearning for one of the PS exclusives (which there are a ton of good ones, the new god of wars are insanely good), I'd definitely say Xbox is the better system for casual gaming. My 2 cents

How much is game pass ultimate? $15/mo, right? I'm guessing Buck has no interest in a monthly fee for access to a gaming library. It's cool to have hundreds of games at your fingertips, but if you're a very casual gamer - like me - who buys maybe 1-2 games per year at most, then it's not worth it.

FWIW I still only have a PS4. It serves my needs just fine. Just got NBA 2K23 for free. Getting Sonic Prime Plus in a few days. That'll be enough for the next 12 months. I don't have much time for gaming so this is plenty.

Yeah, it depends on what all you want to play, but I'd probably point you towards Xbox Series S ($300) and Xbox Game Pass. PlayStation is the "winner" of the war, but I don't think that really matters. If you were going to go hardcore into gaming, maybe it would make sense to go with PS5, but if you just want to play Diablo and a few other games casually, then Xbox Series S should be great. (Note that Xbox Series X is a more expensive, more powerful version, but you can probably just save money and go with the Xbox Series S).

PC gaming (especially with Diablo) is probably better than console gaming IMO, but if you don't want to deal with that (or a Steam Deck), then yeah stick with a console.

I'll also point out that I haven't really paid close attention to Diablo 4 and how it performs on various platforms. The only thing I know is that it doesn't run on a Mac. Thanks Whoopi for the heads-up about that.

Perhaps, I'm definitely a bit more than casual and enjoy more variety over the course of a year.

I can say that I have a handful of truly casual gaming friends, and the couple that have game pass love it. From my understanding Buck is rolling in yellow cat san saba money or something and wouldn't be too hurt by sub cost, just my honest recommendation to folk.
