It is becoming more uncommon as teams get better at drafting. There is only one player in the current top 30 of position player fwar who was drafted after the 10th round (Ryan Noda). Cedric Mullins, Jack Suwinski, and Zach McKinstry are other late round draftees having good years. By far most stars come from the top 2 rounds, but it is still pretty common for there to be several good players per round in rounds 3-10.
This 17 straight game stretch has been brutal. A win today and it ends up being a 10-7 stretch which is solid considering the circumstances. I realize the opponents weren't all World Series contenders, but 14 of the 17 games were against legitimate MLB teams and we all know even the worst MLB team can beat the best 30-35% of the time. The next 9 game homestand will tell us quite a bit about this team and the rest of the season.
Speaking on the Astros' pregame radio show SportsTalk790, GM Dana Brown said the team is going back to a five-man rotation and will keep Ronel Blanco in the big league bullpen as a long reliever. Speaking on the team's pregame radio show on SportsTalk790, Astros general manager Dana Brown said the timeline for Yordan Alvarez's return "is still up in the air a little bit" but “it will take a week at least to get a feel for how long it’s going to be.” -Chandler Rome
Browns comments about targeting a lefthanded bat that can play multiple positions really narrows down who they have at the top of the list. I cannot find any player other than Bellinger who might be available that fits the criteria.
I don't understand many people's infatuation with him. He's just "meeehh" 1B and DH are positions, I suppose.
His OPS vs RHP is just under .800 for the last two years Would make a great platoon partner with Chas although i'm sure Brown knows Dusty wouldn't use them that way
Hopefully Dana doesn’t wait until July 31st to make a move for several bats. Might be 10+ behind by then
Anyone Dana gets will not be used by Dusty anyway. Mute. Have to do what Click did and trade away Dusty's pets. I doubt that will happen.
Probably would use them the opposite and then we would have people trying to defend that with baseless excuses
Yainer Diaz has more barrels this season than Bregman. He has six fewer barrels than Tucker (16 to 10) in less than a third of many PAs. His bat must be in the lineup every day outside of scheduled rest days.
