All you have to do is go to the Time Machine, and stall Crittenton so that he cannot commit anything and lock him up a little for minor charges.
I want to see Sengun improve at taking jump shots, not just his little three point set shot. He's not a bad athlete, he gets up enough to dunk over people sometimes, and clearly he has a good natural touch. It's more of a long-term goal at this point, but if he can develop out the ability to hit midrange jumpers it will really help his three-level scoring potential.
You keep comparing him to Jokic, when ends up not living up you'll keep blaming coach Silas lol. Sengun's excuses will stay changing
You blame them for focusing on the development of perimeter players knowing that all rings in the last 15 years have been bc of dominant wing players and no bigs? Okay. I don’t think that’s rational, but okay. Starting Bruno have Sengun more control of the ball when he was in the game. And for a team that isn’t focused on winning, that could have been a better development strategy than placing your 5 technically best players in the starting lineup. Bruno didn’t need plays ran for him and he was a better fit (on paper at least) as a roll/lob man for KPJ and Green to develop their playmaking skills. It’s not that Sengun isn’t good enough, it’s that developing those two would be harder to do playing heavy minutes with Sengun — who also needs to the ball in his hands fairly often. Don’t get me wrong, I think Sengun has massive potential. I just think we had so many pieces to develop that it’s entirely reasonable for the team to not focus solely on him those first two years. now he’s stronger, more mature, can play a little better off ball than before (still not a threat there). And btw I’m not at all saying the strategy worked. I’m saying it’s not as insane as many are trying to make it out to be. Like we had Hakeem Olajuwon reincarnated and refused to start him. didn’t he and jokic have similar minutes their first two seasons? They also tend to play bigs less minutes in general their first few years because they can develop chronic injuries easier.
I don’t think they knew how they wanted to develop the future team — they just knew they needed the players to have time to make mistakes on the court. You’re asking why, if they “wanted to develop a pg oriented scheme (I didn’t suggest they did)” they played kpj? Because kpj CLEARLY has star potential. He has moves, handles, a shot. Why didn’t they find a good pg? Because they were trying to develop kpj… btw, I said we needed to develop wing players, not necessarily a “pg.” because that’s how all the recent championship teams have done it. And even a dominant Sengun of the future will need at least one dominant wing player. Jokic has a couple of them and without those guys he’s be exiting the playoffs early again. Making nix the backup was bc why the hell spend money and resources on a fill in player knowing we were focusing on rebuilding in the draft and not concerned with winning? I would have preferred a winning outlook, but I’m only defending the organizations thought process as rational and reasonable. Not that I necessarily enjoyed it. And certainly not that it was entirely correct decision given 20/20 hindsight.
Okay, I thought you said because this was a guard's league, therefore committing to developing KPJ over Sengun was the correct move. I don't fault them for experimenting with KPJ at PG at the beginning. But after one full season, it was clear as daylight that he did not have what it takes to be a good PG. Continuing with the experiment was a misuse of KPJ's talent and detrimental to both the team development and KPJ's development. And in doing so, they were also missing out on seeing what Sengun could do in the right way rather than just an afterthought kind of role. By the second season, most of the league had noticed the talent of Sengun and I'm sure there would be teams that would love to have him. Why not trade him for a good wing player, like you think the team should have? (For the record, I don't want them to trade Sengun. I'm just following your logic.) And I haven't even mentioned about how it took almost 80% of the season for them not to do anything to help Jabari in his struggle. If you want to rebuild by developing your young talents, you need to give them the environment to get better. What they did instead was a chaotic environment where everybody pretty much had to fend for himself. The only game plan they stuck to was the insistent on continuing the KPJ experiment.
For the record Sengun is my favorite player on the team. I WANT to see us focus around him this season. I just understand what the team was probably trying to do.
Just for the record. The only team that has been guard dominant that has won rings in the last 15-20 years has been GS with the best shooter of all time. Every other team has been wing or big dominant. Maj and racistchamp are going to have aneurysms when Ime prioritizes Alp. They’re gonna have to leave the board
Hmm… pretty sure when Ime spoke about team needs, he mentioned bigs and shooting. Sengun will be prioritized off the bench with the second pick unit unless we completely strike out in FA. I was right last year and y’all blew off the handle, and I will be right again
You were literally never right last year lol. You said he wouldn’t start and be one of the worst players on the team. He was the best player on the team and started almost every game. You’re going to have to accept the best player on this team is someone you don’t like
Really? You don’t y’all he wouldn’t close a lot of the games and y’all disagreed. I was 100% correct. He’s not our best player, he’s 3rd and will be 4th or 5th soon
Ime has also said prioritizing Sengun as an initiator in the half-court is one of his objectives. I’m starting to come around to the idea of not even worrying about the PG “hole” whether it be vet or otherwise. The only exception is if we somehow got Scoot in the draft then I jump on that and let Scoot be the main facilitator with the second unit and when they play together, Sengun can work his magic in the low post.
