Trump’s wealth is a factor but being President and possibly being president again puts him in a unique category.

I think there is a key difference between someone like Welch and someone like Trump that makes Welch more impactful and damaging.

The difference is Trump is a symptom and someone like Welch causes things. He's responsible for paradigm shifts specifically the shift from "welfare capitalism" to "shareholder capitalism" where employees stayed with a single company their entire lives with a pension to the modern era of quarterly profits to maxamize shareholder value.

Trump rode a wave of rising wealth inequality, a lot of it shaped by Welch's management style copied in mass, and online algorithmic brainwashing where only those factors could allow someone like Trump to do what he does. So I see Trump as more of a symptom of what people like Welch brought into the world.

Yes there is something to Trump benefitting from what Welch and others built. That still ignores the actual threat that Trump did in power.

I also think people like Welch are more dangerous because they are propped up by non fascists which makes them more capable of being accepted by a larger group of people. Jack Welch is mostly seen as a "positive character" by most media entities and that's dangerous

Trump is obviously bad. People like Welch get praised by the CNBC types.
