Yeah I'm well aware (I'm from Europe,) being a "top basketball league in the world" outside of America really doesn't mean an awful lot in terms of the facilities available. Even with increased interest over the last couple of decades I'd imagine the majority of European facilities pale in comparison to even better funded high schools in the states. As I said, even soccer players don't really have high end training facilities as youth players in the same way that American athletes get trained. There's always going to be a period when a Euro player comes into the league where their training and physicality has to catch up with their peers. It's a big reason I don't really worry about Sengun at all from a fitness/athleticism standpoint.
Just curious, which part of Europe? As to Sengun and his athleticism, he was clearly still going through puberty when he first came to the NBA, and he seemed to have a LOT more baby fat as well. I think he still has room for improvement there, and seems to be working on that.
The UK, though I have family in Poland and Houston (Dad's American, Mum's family are Polish.) And yeah I think it's clear he's far from finished developing. A couple seasons in the league with the facilities and he's going to look like a completely different person. It's common for European prospects, and I almost always expect it. People don't realise that if Giannis had grown up in America he probably would've come into the league with the body he got after his transformation.
It's actually fairly common I think. Lots of people came over during and after the war I guess, even in modern times Poland to the UK is a fairly common immigration path, similar cultures and lots of communities to fit into I guess.
Sengun needs to become the best version of Sengun. He is not sized like Jokic in anyway, so a lot of things Jokic does on both offense and defense would not work in Sengun's body.
You could see why the Manimal was getting those buckets and then he would be out of the league not much later.
That’s a damn good NBA player. I loved Scola’s game. Alpi needs to get serious about his body and his shooting range. He has everything else.
Where are all the post play is dead posters at? The it's only 3 and D and no other style can win? Kinda quiet around here.,
Must say, its a peak time to guage Sengun's trade value NOW. For anyone who overpays into "next Jokic" hype. Of course if he becomes 85% of Jokic, that wont be worth getting rid of. But you got to at least test the waters.
I am an Alpe supporter but there is nobody as indifferent towards fame as Jokic, maybe Duncan. He just goes to work and straight home.
