To summarize the Banana Rs talking points: 1. Biden is "weaponzing" the DoJ to attack his political rival. 2. Trump is so far ahead in the polls that this is the only way Biden can win in 2024. 3. Is it a coincidence that just when the House Rs were about to impeach Biden that Biden does this? 4. Biden mishandled classified documents too. Way worse than anything Trump did. 5. Witch Hunt! 6. Boxes Hoax! 7. Unprecedented and Sham Indictment. 8. Biden Crime Family. 9. Biden has made the US a Banana Republic. Mix and match as you please.
Why is it when the r`s talk about Biden having documents, they leave out the fact that Pence did the same thing, the biggest difference is when Biden and Pence realized what had happened, they immediately cooperated and returned them and trump did the exact opposite. The r`s have nothing but spin.......glad there sticking by there man
And where was all this concern about “locking up political enemies” and “banana Republics” when Trump was leading rallies with “Lock Her Up!”
Heh, trying to reason with supporters that are upset about this is impossible. I wish someone would come at us with a good argument of why we should be outraged just like them rather than throwing out the typical buzz words.
Trump will want his criminal case in south FL. Miami jury is notoriously favorable for politicians and celebrities. https://themessenger.com/politics/trump-south-florida-miami-doj-jury-challenge ‘Prosecuting Politicians is Hard Here’: Why South Florida is a Tough Place for DOJ to Try Trump 'Forget documents - if Trump shot someone on Calle Ocho, a Miami jury would find him not guilty,' said one veteran defense attorney Published 06/08/23 05:06 PM ET|Updated 14 hr ago Marc Caputo …
I feel like the Biden administration wants Trump to win the GOP nomination. He’s the most likely candidate to lose to Biden.
I'd have no objection at all if an indictment is brought on Biden. You still have to prove your case before 12 jurors. And if they can do that, I'd want Biden in jail.
Yet he couldn’t because we have a norm or required process of independent counsel for investigating high level politicians, grand jury for indictment, independent judicial, and trial by jury. The one body that has recently (last 20 years) used its gov power to go after political opponents is the Congress under GOP control to investigate their opponents.
I do not condone what Trump did there, but he was not in office when he did that. The concern here is that the government is weaponizing the justice system, that's different from a candidate stirring the pot. No, but there is a reason why e.g. parliamentary immunity is a thing in many countries - precisely because the temptation of using the justice system to go after political opponents is very strong. P.S.: I am on record here as saying that Trump should have been arrested for his incitement in the January 6th events. This here feels a bit like they are trying to find something else to pin him down, when the thing that was actually bad somehow couldn't get prosecuted. Like when they used tax laws to go after Al Capone.
A concern that is mostly projection based on what the GOP Congress actually did. The DOJ has not done such a thing - it's all claims by the GOP congress without any evidences. There are body within the DOJ that investigate abuses and no such thing has came up. This is a make-up story by the GOP and so many on the right just fall in line with it. If there was someone that actually try to use the DOJ to go after their opponents, it's Trump. He's well known for his desire to seek revenge and punish those that dare to criticize him. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/08/nyregion/geoffrey-berman-trump-book.html Trump Pushed Officials to Prosecute His Critics, Ex-U.S. Attorney Says Geoffrey S. there is a tape recording of Former President Donald Trump. in a 2021 meeting, acknowledging on tape that he had retained “secret” military information that he had not declassified. https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/09/politics/trump-tape-didnt-declassify-secret-information/index.html it shows that Trump had an understanding the records he had with him at Mar-a-Lago after he left the White House remained classified; Publicly, Trump has continued to spin the lie that all the documents he brought with him to his Florida residence are declassified.
