Reminds me of old man Biggio... respect him like no other but a part time role was probably best in his last year instead of trying to accelerate the record chasing for his final year.

I don't know that I would say that he hid his injuries to keep Christian Vasquez from taking his job - as much as he just played through them all.

I know that the Astros knew about at least some of his injuries.

Also in the past he has claimed that some of the time he would just play through pain and not realize until after the season that he had either broken or fractured something. He had a disc injury at one point that impacted his ability to hit or throw runners out as well.

Yeah - there is a degree of selfishness to it. The reality is that players like Biggio and Maldonado and Pete Rose will play until they are told they cannot play anyone or no one will have them. I guess it is not fair to expect them to turn off that kind of ambition.

The Astros last season or maybe the year before told Maldonado he could get a high job in the front office and work with people likes Geles (who he is very close with), but he said he was more interested in playing.

Except Biggio was chasing personal milestones and the Team is chasing Rings.

That started the avalanche. Framber was visibly pissed and then unraveled from there. Also Maldy's framing was god awful and lazy yet again.

I too am tired of Maldy , but at least out pitching has been good and you have to give him some credit for that .

but my GAWD , Abreu has been sooooooo bad .

Really bad mistake at this point. We could have kept Yuli and used the $ for literally anything else. I mean Really Really bad mistake.

Maldy 58th of 60 on pitch framing... Yainer is 47th. Maldy also led the league last year in passed balls while giving up 31 wild pitches

0-3 tonight and sub .200 batting average again. Pallilo with the right take here.

Suuuuure , but i mean we won the WS last year and our pitchers/ pitching was a huge strength . I put more stock in calling the game than pitch framing .

Dont get me wrong .. i want Yainer to take over soon

Vasquez also caught a World Series no hitter.

GD I love Charlie Pallilo... could not have said it better... this is not only a hot, but blissful & quelling take.
I mean, we're not all eating mushrooms in wonderland here... the bolded IS the general consensus and fact (not opinion), correct???

Hey friend... you fam of MM...? are you MM? (it would make sense if you were, bc if I were him and knew where/how the decline of my career is headed I sureasallhell would say "I want Yanier to take over soon" also)

Nah , im not in the machete family , more of a fork . Anywhooo Im a big fan of his and respect him for what hes done over the years. He might not be able to cut it anymore. Yainer taking over soon means getting more of a 50/50 split right now .. and then Yainer getting the majority soon. I think Dusty is playing machete way too much. If anything Diaz should be handling the load early on and Maldy should be getting his body as right as can be for the stretch.

    But i digress

My point is i can live more with Maldy doing what he's doing vs Abreu . Abreu is trash , plays a premium offensive position , and we are paying him much more than maldonado.

Weve lived with getting little from Maldy offensively for the last few years. It may be time to move on , but im not outraged ( even if the stros should have seen it coming )

We REALLY should have seen that Abreu was garbage and declining .

I never thought i would want to trade for bellinger lol , but at this point give me anything at 1B. We'd be a tiny bit better off if we were playing MALDONADO at 1B ( at least offensively )

Solid take... I'd even take Hensley in a consistent role at 1B right now until they figure out how to write that bad-debt expense off.

What’s his excuse this year? He has always sucked at batting. Dusty and Maldonado both need to go. Crane was brilliant to let Luhow run everything. He has sh*t the bed since then by choosing Dusty over Click (I like Dana) and giving “look at the back of the card” Bagwell a say in personnel decisions. He is on the verge of letting his dynasty go to waste over sentiment. Crane should give authority over Dusty on personnel decisions including benching old guys. If Dusty and Maldonado don’t like it, send them packing.

Oh god no. Last I checked Hensley was hitting below .200 in Sugarland.
