Then why does Newsom refuse to cooperate with the federal government?

Diet Trump picks an immigration fight with Newsom because he’s scared to attack Trump

He’s running against former President Trump, and a host of other Republican hopefuls, all of whom are trailing Trump badly in the polls. But the stranglehold that Trump has on the GOP means that
Diet Trump can’t pick a fight with the former guy for fear of alienating the Republican base, not to mention fear of unleashing Trump’s toxic brand of rhetorical annihilation.
(Trump’s preferred insult for the Florida governor, “Ron DeSanctimonious” is ungainly, but apt.)

Diet Trump is probably hoping that Chris Christie will be Trump’s pain sponge, now that the combative former New Jersey governor has entered the race.

With the Republican presidential contest in full swing, Det Trump's’ targeting of Newsom with what is fast becoming a tired gambit counts as simple misplaced aggression. He’s posturing for
conservative and independent voters in a way that won’t provoke Trump. In fact, using migrants as pawns is right up Trump’s alley:

A federal class action lawsuit was filed against Diet Trump and other Florida officials in September by a civil rights law firm on behalf of the migrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard. It alleges that
the migrants’ constitutional rights were violated when they were tricked into boarding planes and abandoned once they landed.

Calif AG Bonta has launched an investigation into the circumstances under which the most recent group of transported asylum seekers landed in California.

“We are also evaluating potential criminal or civil action against those who transported or arranged for the transport of these vulnerable immigrants,” Bonta said in a statement.
“State-sanctioned kidnapping is not a public policy choice, it is immoral and disgusting.”

Already been explained in prior posts multiple times.

And no matter how you slice it - it is kidnapping. Unaccompanied minors can't even consent to be transported - as soon as they put minors in any kind of transport, they have broken the law. The fact that deception was used, is all the more egregious. This is going to land Florida officials in a lot of hot water and legal problems. It will be interesting to see if DeSantis gets into legal trouble.

Typically these issues are only used until the general election, and then the GOP drops them as the general electorate is more pro-immigrant than the far right. But this is going to be a headache for your man if he wins the nomination.

    Newsom is a moron.

I doubt a kidnapping charge could apply as the migrants did go voluntarily. This seems more like grounds for a civil suit based on being lured with false pretenses. I don’t know enough about human trafficking but given that human trafficking frequently involves luring people on false pretenses that could be something.

At the minimum this is a Governor using taxpayer funding to pay to move people from one state to another state neither of which is the state he’s governing. It’s a political stunt meant to virtue signal.

It's definitely abduction or human trafficking - the difference with kidnapping is only if there was any point they were held against their will. But even if not, it's still abduction given they were deceived and taken to a place they did not want to go.

These were minors without parents. They are either kept by sponsors until they are reunited with their parents, deported with their parents or kept by sponsors.

If your point is that immigration is a dirty business, I agree that it is. However the problem I have with DeSantis is that his actions lead most people to conclude that he doesn't care about the fate of those immigrants as humans - but only as a political football.

Maybe it will work for DeSantis politically, but it turns off a lot of people outside of Texas and Florida, and people that don't have a pre-existing opinion of Governor De Santis as he ramps up for a Presidential run.

Honestly - I can do without Gavin "Hair" Newsome or Ron "Meatball" DeSantis.

They both are self-serving fools that believe the masses are stupid.

I wouldn't call either of them a good person either.

I agree, there both what people hate about politicians, I can do without either one. Immigration is a mess, it always has been, and I don't see it getting better anytime soon because it's a political tool, the gop prayed for a spike when title 12 was rescinded and when that didn't happen, they had to create a narrative to their base that it was. Both sides need to sit down and figure this out, but its not really in their interest to do so, you need this topic to show how bad the other team does it every 4 years.

DeSantis exposes the rich leftists' hypocrisy. That's what makes them so angry and hateful, like Newsom.

Except for FL taxpayers like yourself who paid ten times as much for transporting people who weren’t in FL to another state that wasn’t Fl.
