    Any chance you're hiring lol

I kind of wonder what the EVP thinks. There's no denying I was getting a ton of work done, the evidence is clear if he looks or asks anybody but her. I guess he'll have to do something in a couple months when she bolts for her conflicting interest. Kind of think he deserves the surprise now lol...

Do you do healthcare software development?

I bet they will have to hire at least two people to replace you. That's what ended up happening with my old job, they actually had to hire two and a contractor to handle my biggest project.

There is some silver lining to have more time to reconnect with friends and fam. I get the feeling you don't say no as often because you want to impress upwards but for whatever reasons your gestures aren't impressing those above you. The reason could be as petty as those folks being insecure seeing how you can deliver and handle pressure without recognizing the time you're taking away from personal life (cuz you don't communicate that as often as you think). It also seemed like your boss was a bottleneck to those above, so her opinion of you became truth to them.

I reread the responses and I agree about getting away from an industry as insular as your former employer because your reputation is at the mercy of the same people exploiting you. It reduces your independence and fighting spirit and makes you captive to shitty bosses who are enabled for the same reason.

Maybe hiring a resume writer will crystalize the skills that you developed under pressure and you both can work together at finding more opportunities elsewhere or focusing on skills to build or improve in your next job. It's tougher to quickly pivot while feeding a family but having and expressing those goals might open doors to employers who weren't originally looking at your skillset.

Having an earnest and hardworking mentality goes a long way, but there's also homework at your end to read whether the employer/manager really appreciates that. Sometimes in our desperation to land a job or run away from one, we jump towards the first opportunity available. Shaping up your resume and interviewing skills will hopefully lead to multiple options where you can then freely and openly ask questions to see if they are also a fit on your end, which then primes the companies that you are confident and talented, which then allows you to negotiate further with the leverage of multiple offers.

Now that you have time to breathe, some introspection of what went wrong with this job...like how did you even find it in the first place, was it the best opportunity then, did you remember see the signs with your boss during interviewing...will then offer clues to whether you were doomed in the first place and had to "make it right" by shouldering even more on the fly. I've done it before and there's a temptation to "carry baggage". You absolutely don't want to bring that to the interview, so challenge is to bring those concerns up as experience and "learnings" without pointing fingers. It gets easier the more you interview while keeping a focus on your personal lines and priorities.

It sounds shitty to relive an unpleasant situation, but if it helps you understand/read losing situations before you even play, you can then have the option of avoiding those situations or asking for more in writing should you decide to go ahead and pursue it.

The other unsolicited advice is to hit the jobs hard fast to get in the groove without letting too much sink in. Maybe you will hire a resume writer/pro recruiter, but that shouldn't stop you from jumping in now (perfect is the enemy of good...and failing is still the best teacher). Get some side hustle working to prime your skills or hobbies, and even shoot an occasional message to the EVP from time to time to maintain good relations. If your boss really does leave shop, it wouldn't hurt to keep that line open.

I have a PMP certification, studied agile processes and understand the role of a scrum master but I've never done it. It would be like anything else I guess, I'm a quick learner and I'm pretty above average with computers. What would be needed to get started, aside from experience?

They'll try to split my tasks up between a couple of people, for sure. They're in for a surprise if they think it was easy though. Making agendas and status reports for 10 different projects on a constant loop is super draining, especially while I was also trying to train, guide agents and do the work of my boss's nepo baby. They thought I was an ******* asking for updates. Not sure how they think the sausage was made but they'll find out quick.

I don’t think we’re hiring PMs right now (I think we’re actually at a surplus).

I will say that the market for experienced PMs was bananas 9 months ago and I still get 1-3 emails a day from recruiters. That PMP is gold.

Talk to the guy I referenced. Not only was the resume great, he gave me a customized six page instruction sheet on how exactly to optimize my LinkedIn. He will even send you instructions on how to do your own headshot if you’re so inclined.

There used to be a guy on here whose main business it was to help people improve their resumes. I think he was a bit sensitive and stopped posting. Let me try to remember who it was.

    Edit: It was https://bbs.clutchfans.net/members/dandorotik.9540/

I think the user name = real name, so if he is still doing that, you can probably find him. Looks like he stopped posting 5 years ago.

    Googled it: https://resumedoor.com/

I would say that the market is probably not that great right now, probably depends on local circumstances. Most tech companies I know, even the highly profitable ones like Amazon, are still in cost cutting mode.

Dan Dorotik is that guy - I would give him a try along with Xero’s guy. Good luck Derp, we have all been there. I remember getting fired at the end of January 2011 - only time that has happened to me. Took me 6 months to find another job- also led to the end of my first marriage. But I am doing what I always wanted to do and even though I have a bad supervisor- I don’t let it get me down.

Me again lol...I got a job offer. Equivalent pay considering I don't have to manage a whiny racist, deal with a manipulative supervisor or commute 2 hours a day. I've also had an article be accepted for publication by PMI Houston, may even appear on their overall website. I'll be continuing education for all my certs, hoping to get an industry specific one within the year, may even buckle down and go back to school this fall for engineering.

You know it's bad when you are less stressed with no income versus having to go to a job that is obnoxious. I'll just say it again, thanks brehs. This is clutchfams now lol y'all the real mvp.

    So question...

I'll run into my former supervisor at some point. Same industry and it is niche, it'll happen eventually. I found out what she said to get me fired and it's silly as hell. So when I run into her again... make it weird? Squeeze a handshake too hard? Absolutely blow up her spot and let everyone know all her shenanigans? Or just say hello and avoid any deeper conversation?

Congrats! I knew you'd land on your feet.

    Re: question:

Grudge **** in the janitor's closet, face blast, then leave with her clothes.

Or just take the high road. It's a small world, as you noted, and she's digging her own grave while you're on a good trajectory.

No need to burn bridges. Even if you win the lotto, why burn bridges? Your success can carry the same message while retaining your rep.

It's a small world, just let bygones be bygones. When I left my previous job, I told my manager exactly why I was leaving, and it was due to another ******* manager I put up with far too long. That manager was told why I was leaving and we had a meeting where he wanted to discuss how he could be better (he still was an ******* through the meeting). Either way, we discussed things, got through it, and although I'll never want to work with him again, I made sure not to burn that bridge and he did the same thing. You just never know in this world who knows who and it's best to always take the high road.

So true…it’s a huge city, but it can be so small in industry circles. It’s not worth it. Plus, just be better than that manager was, right? No need to stoop to that level.

Yeah.... it'll happen eventually, one can't just exist egregiously over the line like that and never get caught. She'll burn her own bridge. I can wait.

I got another job offer today... gubment job. Good pay. Would be perfect for me...

Only thing is it's in Dallas. I would have to move probably before August. Home prices are outlandish but I would make a buck selling the current abode.

Leaning towards accepting. Kinda scared about it though...

Take it. You'll be set for life. Can use any pronoun you want, get good insurance and pay taxes to pay yourself.

    Congrats!

I’ve worked with government for decades so maybe I can give you some insight.

What do you mean by government? Specifics?

    And Dallas….
