Brewers, Twins, Blue Jays..we keep losing series against any decent team. We call out the Rangers for puffing up their records against bad teams but that's we've done against the Athletics the last couple of weeks.
WTF friend... dude straight up bulked up w weight and hung out w & hit w Yordan in the offseason... hell, I'd be a better hitter than last year if I did the same...(I don't hit) ...where you going with this?
Like Mick from Rocky would say "He's a bum" So much talent and thinks he will just be given 250 million by the Astros.
This team is similar to 2021. That team was a solid team, mid 90s win team but we are use to the team winning at the current or higher pace that the Rangers are currently playing at. Complacency this year has been obvious by the organization imo led by Crane and Dusty and everyone just feels this team will continue to flip a switch. We'll see what Dana Brown can do.
I'm not discrediting Dubon's work. I'm just saying this team is extremely lucky to be where they're at with Dubon performing the way he is. We might be behind the Angels in the AL West and GM Crane and Bagwell's mess this off-season would absolutely be magnified if he was playing to his career standard. Some people predicted Abreu would fall off due to age and Montero would fall off because of a flukey season but no one saw Dubon hitting .300. It's ironic that I had much more confidence in last years team at this period of the season and that was coming off a WS heartbreaker compared to this team coming off the WS win.
but you can’t lead off the game with a HR. Better yet, scoring at all in the 1st inning is problematic.
No I was still b****ing on here and concerned. Sweeping the A's and then beating a broken Manoa didn't sway me that much
Two absolute garbage games in a row, and you can set your watch to it when the Stros have an offensive outburst like Monday. Get a W tomorrow and split it.
The offense isn't good enough or consistent enough right now. Could they get hot and carry us through 11 postseason games? Sure, but it feels like we are suddenly treading water against solid and good teams.
****, these stupid ass losses always put me in a garbage, garbage, garbage mood even though I realize it's just a random game in June. Need MOAR wins, get it together tomorrow pls.
4 game series were meant to be tied at least that's how Dusty approaches them with the rest days. It has worked for him. We'll probably see Yordan and Tucker with the day off tomorrow. I don't see a difference from last year's first half Astros to this year's first half Astros, other than Altuve having an oblique setback after missing 45+ games. A healthy Altuve from the start and it's the same team: OBP, average/ slugging percentage. OPs was .740 in the first 90 games last year. It's .720 in the first 62 with only a few Mighty Mouse cameos. The problem is that there have been a couple of more losses via the bullpen earlier on. Usually it's July- August when the bullpen gets a little shaky.
Verlander is a big difference, at least in the regular season. He was a killer innings eater and table setter for the pitching staff. Bielak, France, Blanco are performing over their heads now. The fall off from Altuve to Dubon wasn't that large either.
Every year, some players will overperform and others will underperform. Dubon is doing basically what he did in 2019 and 2020, so it's not unheard of or anything from him. His time with the Astros last year was by far the worst of his career. Dubon and some of the random pitchers are performing better than expected. But Bregman, Tucker, Abreu are underperforming. You could also just as easily say the team is extremely unlikely to be where they are with those guys performing the way they are. They might be ahead of the Rangers and GM Crane and Bagwell's offseason would look amazing if they were playing to their career standards. (PS - while fans may not have expected much from Dubon, there's at least one person on the Astros who believed in him. But everything thinks he's an idiot.)
