Never would’ve said this two months ago, but he simply can not go back to the bench. Find a way to keep him in the batting order
Yordan is just a Demi God. At what point do the players give Abreu a full metal jacket blanket party?
The 3 headed monster of France/Bielak/Blanco continues to impress. Sub 3.30 combined era. No rush for either McCullers or Urquidy to return. If the front office feels good about both of those guys returning and contributing like in the past, the Astros will absolutely not make a move for a starting pitcher at the deadline. I would, however, get an elite setup man. Move Abreu and Neris to 7th inning duties. All of a sudden you've got the quality depth in the bullpen like the 2022 pen that carried this team all the way to a World Series title. You end up with Valdez/Javier/McCullers/Brown as your playoff starters. Pressly/trade deadline pitcher/Abreu/Neris/Maton/Stanek as your bullpen. One of Blanco/France/Bielak as your long relief.
That pitch to Bichette is possibly the worst pitch I have ever seen. I am assuming it was supposed to be a slider…. But that was just an 88 mph piece of meat that sat there - and was hit like 450 feet.
Eventually Abreu will be batting .189 with a 43 OPS+ and a projected -5.6 WAR and he'll still be batting 5th or 6th.
This should be the starting lineup from now on: Altuve Pena Alvarez Bregman Tucker Julks McCormick/Meyers Abreu Diaz Dubon heavily in the rotation as 2B, OF, DH. Maldonado once per pitching rotation.
