I’m a draft guy, but I’m really hoping we trade the 20th pick, either as part of a package for a good player or move up in the draft. But the reality is that without a consolidation trade, we don’t have the minutes to develop a couple more prospects out of this draft. We’ve done well in mid-round picks; Tari and Sengun are absolute studs for mid-round draft picks, but picking at #20 we’re not gonna get the tier of player we need to justify that roster spot. As for trading the #4 pick, unless it’s to move up for Scoot, or maybe back a spot or two for something really good, I’m not trading that pick. If a team is offering a 2-way all-star player in their 20’s that’s one thing, but we should just nail this pick and focus on consolidating and adding good vets around our core. I hope Stone and Ime are mind melding at this point.
I think our SF and Center positions need more talent. I would consider trading pick #20 with one of; Tate, Garuba, JC or KMJ. We need shooting at those spots. Looking at Denver, who is currently the best in the West, I think we can match their roster with more size and shooting at those positions
Yes it was. Rockets Reddit shared the photo from Utility Sports, but might not have included the capture/description. Utility Sport's description said Portland workout. Henderson was also in that gym that day. Here's the original
Right....plus it even has Blazers/Portland stuff in the picture. Or maybe the Blazers let the Rockets use their facilities for their own prospect work outs? Minor quibble, but I think the twins and Scoot worked out on separate days (and Scoot was a solo workout). But yeah, same gym/stuff.
The remaining question still stand from one of the previous posters... have guys like Thompsons, Whitmore, Walker, Black, Hendricks worked for Rockets yet. Feigan and Iko have been quiet. ... side note: from my limited lurking of the Blazers, be it that day or week.. Portland had 2nd round / G-league type of guys worked out for them too. Wasn't just the top prospects.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think Whitmore and possibly Walker have. There was that picture of Whitmore in Houston, and I'm not sure why he'd be here otherwise. The Walker stuff involved some picture of him with others (presumably in a workout in HOU...though maybe it was just that....an individual workout). I'm too lazy to dig into that, and honestly...I don't know if I really care who the Rockets have worked out. Sorry. And yeah, POR has had other guys in to work out. I'm not sure if the twins worked out with others, or just themselves, but I know Scoot working out by himself was kinda a big deal (as they've done a number of workouts with others).
Saw something about GG got caught lighting up at one of his workouts?? Maybe his agent canceled them so he can't hurt his draft stock any further
I know it's just speculation but it's kinda strange that Jackson would shut down workouts for a guarantee as low as the late teens or twenties. However I wouldn't have any problem whatsoever selecting GG at #20 if some of my other favorites are gone. 6'9'' and has a good handle, can shoot off the dribble or catch and shoot, is physical inside and has touch there as well and is still only 18. Has the potential to be a 6'10''-6'11'' 3 level scorer when he matures fully. I know his shot selection isn't the greatest atm and he doesn't always play hard or smart on defense but I'll take someone that has a high skill level already at 18 and then just teach him to play smarter and with better shot selection and defensive intentionality instead of someone you have hope to try and teach skills to. Definition of a "high upside" pick!
I disagree. First round picks are cheap labor for the next 5 yrs and you can Def strike gold and get a long term starter for cheap. Guys like Christopher, Nix, WCS, Darius Days, Trevor Hudgins any of these can be axed if néed more space.
McClung isn't 6'7" with a 7 foot wingspan with scouts raving about his athleticism, ability to get to the basket, court vision and defense. Come on, man.
