Heard a news story on Little Mermaid. From the clips, it sounds like it's the same songs from the last version? Is that right? So, I assume the storytelling is probably the same too. Why make the thing all over again if you're going to tell the same story?

Must've really hurt to learn that it made $117 million this weekend. In the top 5 of Memorial Day releases (which includes Top Gun Maverick). Go woke...make millions?

Haven't seen it but my understanding is that there are a few new songs by Lin Manuel Miranda. Otherwise it's a very similar story line.

I can only assume you are a groomer when you focus so much on children’s programming.

Across the Spiderverse is doing extra well because Miles has a BLM sticker on his binder and Hobie’s attacks on capitalism.

    Groomers are sad.

Film did well Domestically but was a big flop in China. So I guess China is anti-woke more than the US is. So seems you and China are buddy buddy. Makes sense, the Chinese don't want to watch black people in animated films (Across the Spiderverse also underperformed in China), and apparently neither do you.

Not really - Hong Kong / Macau but those are very different than the rest of China from what I understand.

Have you explored much of the country? I've always been curious but never had the time really that it would take.

Only Beijing, Shanghai (many times), Tianjin and Dalian (the latter two just for WEF). I declined to go this year. Who knows when these crazies will lock down again.

Nah, I just don't support political pandering to any specific race. Its pretty racist to give black actors and actresses roles that they will never fulfil entirely because before them there was an original and popular character that will always be associated as the real character of said story. 2023 The Little Mermaid will never be the original, it won't take the place of the original. Bailey was never going to live up to the original character and instead of giving her an original role that she could make her own they set her up for a forgettable film that is plainly not good based off of reviews.

The same can be said if they remade Men In Black with a white actor, he will never be Will Smith. We know what Will Smith looks like, this ain't Doctor Who.... Characters can't just regenerate into what ever the hell woke Hollywood wants. Its comical, they can continue dishing out this trash.. I enjoy watching them fail...

Always interesting when people say this as if hollywood hasn't been pandering to white audiences since its inception.

They remake minorities roles with white actors all the time. Yet you don't seem to complain about those instances. Look at the last air bender - that was a show that went from all minority to nearly all white except for the big evil boss.

I just don't get why you care so much.

Shanghai seems like it would a really fascinating city to visit. Honestly I don't deal well with air pollution so much so I avoid big asian cities - last time I was in New Delhi the air was like acid. But from my understanding, so long as you are not holding a Chinese passport or of Chinese descent, it's unlikely they will target someone for an exit ban.
