Anytime an underdog has ever won, they were just lucky according to the brilliant @astrosrule. Rockets were just unlucky when they went 0-27.
makes no difference who the favorite of underdog is, shooting luck is shooting luck. If denver starts shooting 50% every other game it would also be luck, that's how math works......
I think it is both. To shoot consistently much better throughout the playoffs cannot be explained just by luck, there has to be a systematic element to it. But the gap with the regular season is too big to be explained by any systematic change.
Just wait till he proves the thread's premise right bro. You think if someone started this thread on Jokic shortly before Nurkic got traded, it would have generated some discussion? Same thing will happen here. You will come around eventually, but probably only after we win the first ring.
got it. while I suppose there's a nonzero probability of THAT occurring, I would not wait up late for me
Is deception (Denver being a better 3-point defending team) It's good when Jokic can play Drop Coverage because you put him on the worst shooter (example: Schroder) and camp out in the paint...but there is no Schroder on this Miami team. Jokic has to come out and contest a 3-pt shooter or it's 60% by these shooters from 3. Heat had open 3's in game one but just fought a hard fought 7 game series to travel to mile high Denver. The footage showed then that the Nuggets are terrible at protecting the corner 3. Also known as the "Short Porch" 3.......Miami loves that corner 3. They rotate and alternate different players loving all that gravy. They are licking their chops wanting to get out there vs Nuggets knowing the open 3's are there. Series over. Im a basketball junkie that has watched basketball all my life. There are no feasible adjustments that the Nuggets can make.... with exception to playing Jokic less. Like 28 minutes. The Nuggets got back into the game in the second quarter when Jokic sat and Braun played out of his mind. Lowry stunk it up on the Miami side. It's Checkmate......I'm 5 steps ahead of Denver. Take the draw Denver. P.S. Jokic/Denver are 0-3 (W-L) when Jokic scores 40 points or more this playoffs. https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask?q=record+when+jokic+scores+40+or+more+points+in+22/23+playoffs Miami doesn't mind Jokic going for 70 points
One could see it that way. Not sure Jimmy = James, but in terms of acquiring capable shooting I'd say Riley has done a better job. He found guys who could shoot high frequency at average or better clip. The Morey 33% three pointers vs 50% 2 pointers argument.
Ya, that was morey’s entire philosophy to beat the warriors. Take a worse team, shoot lots of 3s and hope you get lucky.
