Ah can never get enough of the insightfulness of Jordan Balthazar Peterson. A genuine endless stream of intellectual curiosity by this man

No duh. But when it comes to medical treatment things are different.

minors are not typically allowed to consent to their own treatment. But, that does not mean they should not play any role in the informed consent process.

A 13-17 old kid should b able to participate in medical treatment like this bc it is necessary. No parent is forcing gender transition surgery upon their kid without their permission.

Making a kid wait until 18 or 21 just because u don't agree with the process/benefits is dumb.

Denying parental rights and restricting kids rights all simply bc u don't agree with a standard of care that's been deem appropriate by the medical community.

I think narratives like what Peterson is pushing here gives good insight to how vapid right wing analysis of systems are and it has to do with my other post where right wing ideology is based in very distinct "good vs evil" which results in people like ATW and Peterson prescribing agendas and motives to a group of people that doesn't make sense when you analyze things like opportunity cost, motive, intent etc.

Why do people what gay people.to turn trans again? Is this getting a group of people massively wealthy? Is this providing power to a group of people by doing this? Why is this a thing? How did it becomes a thing? Do people like ATW ask any of these basic questions when analyzing a claim?

Gender-affirming care has been known since at least the 1920s. The standard of care for it has been established (and evolved with new evidence) for 50+ years. References to care for affirming gender have been customary for decades.

You might remember this thread, which is about word framing and using specific words or phrases to shape perception of the world.

"propaganda is made vague by euphemism and inversion of customary meaning. The intended effect is to limit freedom of thought, as well as limiting concepts such as freedom and self-expression.

To spot a would-be autocrat, look for someone who undermines language"

The problem with gender-affirming care is that it, as it states, only affirms. It disallows any type of therapy that would disabuse the individual of their gender dysphoria. I'm no doctor, but I don't think that's how medicine is supposed to work (eliminating therapy options via politics/government).

Peterson is one of the more lucid conservative voices in the trans debate.

His concern to me seems genuine, and he supports his arguments with facts as well as anyone.

Most importantly, he's a clinical psychologist, so he can speak to the mental aspect of this with some authority at least.

I believe him when he suggests that there are many clinicians who are too aggressive in their diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

I'm not sure he falls in the "outlaw all of this" camp, however.

Jordan Peterson definitely does not have lucid thoughts on any current political discourse. The dude just got a multi Millon dollar contract to be a Daily Wire pundit. He's on lock step with extremists like Matt Walsh, also a Daily Wire pundit.

His entire foray into politics came through grifting false narratives of a Canadian bill that would make it illegal to misgender someone. His entire world views he has spewed the past few years are entirely around a central grift.

I've followed his career for years and I think he's pretty brilliant. I was disappointed he took the bag from Daily Wire but my hope is he would be a positive influence on them. Not gonna hate on him for getting paid either way.

    Brilliant in what way?

Dude is an abject grifter. His media career started entirely on a lie that Canada was about to make misgendering people illegal.

His entire shtick is to make young males feel comfortable abusing their domestic partner because that's how our cultural hierarchy has always been and our cultural hierarchy has resulted in the modern wealth that allows Jordan Balthazar Peterson to obtain massive amounts of wealth through speaking nonsense over the interwebs. Therefore our social hierarchies are great because Jordan B Peterson is doing great.

    He's got the Pangloss disease.

I've read his books and listened to hundreds of hours of his lectures and interviews, and this is pure nonsense.

This explains a lot man. This dude is not a serious person.

His entire shtick that gets the most "cheer" is his "takedowns" of women in media. He's the precursor to Andrew Tate. He's Andrew Tate with an intellectual slant.

If you understand his central goal that makes him a useful propagandist for the likes of wealthy conservative backers like the Kock brothers is his irrational defense of hierarchial systems where women are homemakers and men provide and getting outside this hierarchy can destroy civilization.

He's useful to the wealthy white elite because he convinces normal non wealthy white people that our hierarchy as it is now is perfect and negative analysis and desire to change said hierarchy comes from evil desires to upend society.

It's basically Pangloss. It's basically wealthy people convincing normies that the hierarchy and conditioners experienced today is the best it can be and any ideology saying otherwise wants to "destroy western civilization".

Everyone please remember - anyone @fchowd0311 doesn't agree with or doesn't understand (= 99% of the population) is a

No. I would estimate about 3-4 genuine fascists here on this message board.

One of them spams anti-trans content daily on a NBA team fan message board, definitely a sign of abnormal extremist behavior.

And you'll never once ever engage with me with actual discourse on this topic and will just resort to spamming the same line that labeling something fascist is absurd just because....

Like that is all you have. You can't go beyond that one thought explaining why my claim is inaccurate

Profoundly incorrect. I'm happy with my knowledge on the matter. Hope you seek to learn more on your own one day.
