I can't tell if you're being facetious or not, but there's like a less than 0% chance this happens. If you know this already, disregard this post.

I like Tyus Jones, but why would they move him for Dinwiddie? I like Tyis better personally.

They will get plenty of scoring from Bane. He's going to have a huge year and make them max him out... would be curious if they would part with him for the right price...

Martin is completely opposite from Brooks. Tate would be a closer match.

I also question whether Claxton would go so cheaply. He's similar to Jarrett Allen who was worth a first by himself...

Personally I would rather take a point guard 20 if they aren't starting right away anyways. Use the #4 to get a star level player.

If 4 and Jalen Green gets you Jalen Brown straight up, adding Harden and drafting PG at 20 seems to be a more reliable plan for improvement...

Tre Jones may actually be better. San Antonio did not offer him an extension, which could have been worth 4/$60m. His Qualifying offer will be ~$6m. The Rockets should let his agent know they will go over that amount so he won't accept. Offer him 4/$60m with a 4th year player option. San Antonio will have the right to match, but they have already balked at that amount. They may ultimately match, but if they don't, we could have a Jalen Brunson on our hands. If they do match, you forced a division rival's hand and made them commit much more salary earlier than they wanted to.

the only problem is that he can’t shoot. Other than that I really like Tre Jones. Does everything else well. But I can’t give big money to a guard that can’t shoot. Pretty sure that’s why the Spurs haven’t locked him up.

Not sure if that's been posted yet but I like his potential but he's arguably the worst defender in the draft. I don't know if that's the type of guy Ime wants. He's very one dimensional.

Probably because he's the only person they've seen so far.

I would love to pick up Tre Jones (even at a slight overpay) if the Rockets end up with Brandon Miller, or for some reason choose Whitmore over Amen. I am high on his future three point shooting given his career 84% free throw percentage and some of the flashes he showed toward the end of the season. He's small, but his defense is not a liability. He was 11th in the NBA in assists per 100 possessions; from what I can tell, he is legitimately a good passer. I don't know if I see a future star player, but he could become a very good starter in the range of Brunson or Kyle Lowry like you said.

Assuming we can't get a trade done, the free agent guards I would target most highly would be:

    With Amen
Fred VanVleet on a 2-3 year deal (just to start for a couple years while Amen develops)

    With Miller/Whitmore
Tre Jones on a 4 year deal (long-term starter at point guard)

With Scoot (I don't think we'll get Scoot, but why not)
Bruce Brown on a 4 year deal (bench swingman, Scoot would start right away)

I am not on the Harden Train, but I am preparing myself for it mentally. (4 years, $192M - team option on 4th year). Sixers use the trade exemption to absorb a S&T from Toronto for FVV to reunite with Nurse in Philly.)

I also think Capela ends up returning to be the rim runner & shot blocker he was with Harden feeding him easy buckets. (ATL needs to cut salary and several SRPs may help them make the move.)

I can envision trading up to get Scoot. I think Stone is under direction from TF to make a splash (besides Harden) and I don't think the team anticipates being this high in the draft again anytime soon (unless it is the Brooklyn picks). 4 + 20 + 2025 BK pick (top 5 protected) would probably convince Charlotte to move down two spots. (They could use 4 & 20 to move up to 3 to get Miller.)

If the team trades away Garuba, Tate, & Nix (or just cuts Nix outright) (with the possibility of trading TyTy as well), that leaves about $20M or so in cap space.

So the question is who is getting added to this potential squad:

Harden - Scoot II - TyTy
Thrilla - Scoot OG - JayGup
    ????? - KMJ - ???
    Bari - Tari - ????
    Capela - Sengawd - ????

i think you need a playoff-hardened vet at the 3 spot (with defensive chops) to push the Kings, Pellies, Wolves, Thunder, Blazers, Mavs, & Lakers for a playoff spot.

The team would be focused on making the playoffs this year and becoming a threat next year. I think TF is worried about losing too many fans and he is looking at the Astros as a blueprint (i.e. strip it down - Phase 1a, build through the minors / rookies - Phase 1b, add some key vets to become a championship contender - Phase 2.)

    Who would you add....
    - Grant Williams? (most likely)
    - Anunoby? (not likely)
    - Patrick Williams? (not likely)
    - Trey Murphy III? (could be done... but not likely; my current fav option)
    - Derozan? (Harden childhood chum...)
    - Fournier? (Knicks would probably give a 2024 FRP to get his salary off their roster to re-sign Hart)

I am not in love with this scenario, but I could see it happening.

What's the lowest-cost plan you can think of for the team to have a legit chance at making the play-ins?

Dennis Schroeder, Nerlens Noel, Justin Holiday and Joe Ingles would do it I think. Could probably snap up all 4 combined for under $25m/season. I feel like we'd have a good shot at finishing 10th in the West. Lots of hard working, switchable, scrappy, defensive players which would work great under Udoka. Could have a run like or better than OKC had last season.

    Sengun/Noel/Garuba
    Jabari/KJ/Ingles
    Holiday/Tari/Ingles
    Green/Tate/Christopher
    Schroeder/KPJ/Tyty

If our #4 pick is ready to contribute off the bench for a playoff team, that would help a lot. Imagine Amen Thompson panning out and bringing productive minutes to the 1/2/3 spots.

Then you have $35m remaining in cap space and can dump a contract or two easily. That's a great spot to be in.

Personally, I don’t think that team wins more than 28 games.

Our starters were a -9 last year. That’s the point differential of a last place team. Yeah, Ime, natural development of young guys, and better 3 pt shooting luck will help us. But to get to playin level (35-40 wins), we would need significant personnel upgrades to the PG position, the SF position, and rotation C.

Like, guys who are top 30 at their position.

I think we can get to 42 wins at least, Why?

-if we sign Harden and Cam Johnson or Grant Williams we would gain 7 wins
-With Ime coaching with disclipine, responsibility and accountability with a shooting coach we would gain 7 wins
-the growth of Jalen and Sengun going to Year 3 will be big and Amen will be vital to gain 7 more wins at least

    Russell Westbrook
    PJ Tucker
    Danuel House
    Ben McLemore
    Austin Rivers
    Clint Capela / Covington
    Eric Gordon

That was a 52 win team with Harden based on %....

I like our current talent better than that now (setting aside Harden). Just needs some experience and coaching.
