Just to test the case, I fully expect Dusty to move him back to 7th sometime this year (eg if Brantley ever returns).
For lineup spot? I'd guess the sample size needs to be in the thousands if not tens of thousands for it to be considered a relevant sample (i.e., no one really ever looks at lineup splits for predictive quality because it takes too big of a sample to be relevant for decision making). I'd guess that Pena's 2nd spot mojo is more Dusty's gut being right and playing Pena up in the order when he's got things working and down in the order when he's chasing sliders.
You have to consider the mindset of Pena in front of Alvarez vs batting 6th or 7th. Add on the mindset of the pitcher in those situations. Pena is already takeawalk-challenged, so he'll swing at more bad pitches with lack of protection behind him in the lineup. I equate it to something significant like Chaz' splits with lefties vs righties. I think it's that pronounced. If and when Brantley gets back, he MUST be placed in the 7th spot. Brantley will give more consistency and stability to the bottom of the order.
Diaz at first base! I like it. I'm expecting to hear a ton of "I love this lineup" with fan favorites Diaz, Chaz and Meyers all included.
- Stros won in 2017 - Chas slugging vs RHP too Stars are aligning Safe to say Chas' first, middle, and last names are all above average
Yes but I think they said they didn't think it was serious and I'm pretty sure the plan was for him to sit out for 2 games.
Show your work here- why thousands. We are- I would think- getting to about 75 times in the 2 hole and 125 times somewhere else. Roughly speaking. That’s over two full seasons- which one think everything but defensive stats should stabilize. Why do you say we need 1000 of 5000 results that way?
