Rookie contracts are cheap because they aren't good NBA players....... You don't chase rookie contracts - you chase players that can help you win. Upside down thinking you have sir. DD
Agree with you on taking the swing with Amen. On Jalen and Jabari, I’m not talking about my personal view, or the Rockets’ view. I’m talking about their market value — how the league thinks of them. I have yet to see any publication or podcast do a redraft with Jalen or Jabari (or Sengun) in the top 4 of their class - they’re always in the 5-10. I disagree, and hope they show it on the court next season, but I’m going to assume that’s the way the league view them until something tells me otherwise. That’s not even taking into consideration the “draft picks lose value once you drive them off the lot” element. Pick #4 is our single highest externally valued asset.
When you don't have a player who is good enough to be the #1 offensive option on a championship-winning team, you chase players who have the potential to become that, or you chase guys that caliber who become available via trade demands/free agency. Trading the #4 pick for some B-tier star like Brown or Siakam is your ticket to .500 basketball. If that's what you enjoy watching, knock yourself out, but for me, I hope the front office has higher aspirations than that.
I don’t think it’s better than the twins but all of their shots aren’t good. But I’m still picking Amen because of everything else he brings to the table unlike Anthony Black.
Ya I;m going to bet NBA GMS have much different evaluations of Green than some hot take narrative driven pundit like Bill Simmons.
Hard disagree, you can tell when a player is good enough to build a championship contender around him whether he's won one yet or not. Not all championship-caliber superstars ever win one either. It's a team sport and there's always luck involved in every title run with injuries, matchups, etc.
Rockets have decided to switch from tanking to winning BUT I believe the pick this year was the last pick they wanted to draft not trade. I just don't think they got a high enough pick to get what they were hoping for. I don't think Amen adds any wins to the team and may even be a net negative if playing heavy minutes. Outside of Wemby or Scoot I think any person they pick will be slow to contribute to wins therefore it is very possible they trade that pick for a proven entity if they are serious about changing the losing culture of the team. I don't think Udoka and his staff can do it alone with this crew they have even with Green and Sengun coming into their 3rd year where you ought to see things really start to click.
You're the one who came at me (you decided to be a smart ass on my post and initiated , maybe your brain is beginning to deteriorate), and if you care about what I do for a living so much it is fairly obvious as I have made several posts about it over the years as it relates to Tilman and how he finances his businesses, plenty of people here know who I am and what I do, i do not need to prove my success or failures to you. Your posts reek of non-target behavior, you may have to google that one. You are literally the Dillon Brooks of this board, you poke the bear and then you complain about it. Go post on the Shanghai Sharks forum.
You are both right. You can trade the 4th for JB or Bridges but you will also have to give up Jalen, Jabari or Sengun and become a mid table team will get swept in the 1st round at best. I don't want us to become Hawks. However after 2nd or 3rd the talent pool isn't impressive i think. We will %99.9 not finding our #1 offensive option in this draft. Do we really have a shot at drafting a player with higher upside than Jalen? Let's say Amen or Miller falls to us are they better than Jalen absolutely not. Our best chance is that we draft or trade a shooter and one or two of Jalen, Jabari, Sengun takes a massive leap next season so now we have a clear #1 offensive option and we suddenly became a better shooting team. The worst thing we can do is drafting a nonshooter kid and waiting for him to develop his shot or acquiring a non shooter via trade with giving up too many assets and forever stuck in mediocrity.
You could see that with Tatum, he could win one evertually. Jokic, I was not very sure of, but I did see him make couple of Finals though. A marvelous improvement to the best player in the league, and that is pretty cool storyline.
“Came at you” I said I book marked your post because you are wrong. Ended it with good day sir. You then replied with insults. (I mean good grief someone thinks you are wrong on the internet and you get that butt hurt) You also said it was “all facts” In that post though you said “rockets are the worst at talent evaluation and it’s not close” great fact there bud. Not an opinion at all. Regardless you have insulted me every post. Because “I came at you” I guess. Anyways I’m glad you have a job and people know what you do. I’m still going to bump your comment down the line to show how inaccurate it is. ps I don’t know what non-target behavior is. I’ll post something from my phone you don’t know I bet. ねこ = you lol
CF is like, I hope who we draft at 4 can average 8 points a night. We should find an all star in any top 5 selection.
No you can't....tons of very good players weren't good enough to win a ring, Ewing, Barkley to name 2....... And with young players you don't know until they hit their peak which is 26ish.......hell Hakeem didn't win until he was in his 30s......just let our young kids grow and see how they respond to Ime's coaching. Right now you would be making an Ill-informed decision, get informed first. DD
