His guide hand is rising higher to match his follow thru, it used to stay set by his ear.
The follow thru hand needs to stop collapsing falling to right side. Leave it on top like a cookie jar. Only complain could be that his set point is too low.

Lonzo and Lamelo had way harsher mechanics.

Hmm interesting, Im on the boat of wanting Scoot the most regardless of his height.

His IQ and intangibles are what I believe will compensate for his height. I know you mentioned the lack of championship winning teams led by small guards are rare and you even mentioned one of my all time favorite point guards in Chauncey but I can’t help but to think he is one of those guys based on what I’ve seen and heard in interviews.

I will have to disagree in that he only offers athleticism, he shows he’s a pass first pg (what he really worked on second year in g league) that chooses to score when the teams needs it and plays with pace, which Westbrook doesn’t. His explosiveness and ability to change speeds is a plus and very well controlled already at such a young age.

But like I said, Amen is growing on me because of his character and his seemingly drive to work on his flaws (shooting). I would be happy with him at 4, not so much Brandon Miller. If anything, I guess we can trade down and acquire some assets if management feels the same. Either way, deep draft and very exciting!!

Maaaan that shot comes from his oblique.. haha So low. BUT, if he is just shooting a open set shot, it wont matter (if he can make 30% of them). This team will have enough scoring and shooters around him, so we wont need him to be a "shooter". What he does bring, speed, playmaking, and finishing in the paint, is what this team needs at the PG spot. He is still very young so he will get better, but he already has a good attitude and is already a good playmaker. I like his height at the position also.

Starting low doesn't bother me too much, it's more about whether he can be smooth and consistent and keep everything in a straight line toward the basket. At this stage I don't think he needs to worry about making contested jumpers, he just needs to hit them when he's wide open. More about keeping defenders honest and forcing them to actually guard him at the perimeter right now.

Nobody except Lebron keeps their hops after year 9, and if you look at the type of injuries Scoot has had already before he even starts playing then you know it's only a matter of time. Again when it comes to IQ and leadership very few are Cp3's match. But if even the point God becomes the Choke God in the playoffs you know being short is a sin in the NBA.

Again there's a reason despite the no of HOF PGs only Billups and Curry won rings as the best player on their team.

All of the stuff you see about Amen working on his shot right now is PR/marketing for the draft.

Maybe he puts in the work to learn to shoot down the line, maybe not. I genuinely don't know. Dont know him, and I dont have a team doing in depth background checks to sus out the minutae of his character, so I can't guess.

But everything he is doing right now is performative for the draft. IMO you are being willingly foolish if you think it means anything about anything. And thats not an insult, it's just the reality of auditioning to be selected for a multi-million dollar life changing contract.

I agree, but I would think the organizations drafting these players are doing a whole lot of checking on them. They have access to a lot of information that we fans will never get access too. They also know going in how they will develop their talent to make them better players. It's an investment so they want their ROI. I never get caught up in these workout video clips, there is so much more to a player than a few highlight clips. I think the kid has talent that can be developed into a really good NBA player.

I’m starting to feel like 76ers fans when they watched Ben Simmons off-season workouts to convince themselves that his shot would magically improve.

    Here’s what I don’t get, and I’m being honest.

Amen started playing ball as a young kid. He was homeschooled to focus on ball. He forewent his final year of high school to join OTE. He’ll turn 21 in his first NBA season.

So…he’s just now learning to shoot? And he’ll figure it out in one off-season?

I was going to reply to someone on the previous page but instead kept reading. Was going to say that I am awful at evaluating someone’s shot. Unless it is something like Marion’s shot I can tell something is off on that lol

He probably won't figure it out in one off-season. (Although, it's not totally impossible--some guys have pulled it off, like Jaylen Brown and Ant Edwards.) It will probably take some time, but that's okay. We aren't contending for anything yet anyway.

All of these guys' lives revolve around basketball. You aren't going to be a high draft prospect if that's not the case. It's just too hard, you have to be too good to make it to this level. So your criticism could apply to any player who sucked at shooting as a prospect. (Refer to my list on the previous page.)

Some guys are just slower to develop as shooters for various reasons. Doesn't mean they won't ever figure it out. We've seen far too many players develop as shooters after entering the league to make those kinds of assumptions.

Execs have long said that in person work outs dont matter at all. They just reinforce what you already believe and give you a feel for the character of a kid.

For example: Al Horford, Paul Millsap, De'Anthony Melton, Torrey Craig, Bruce Brown.

Dudes who probably played basketball for the majority of their lives. Total non-shooting threats in college or early NBA career. Shot around or below 70% on freethrows. Went on to have +35% 3-point shooting seasons in the NBA.

It's not a given that Amen will improve, but it's definitely possible.

I'm not really sure what this means, are you suggesting he's not actually working on his shot this summer? That he doesn't want to be a better jump shooter? He isn't trying to improve his form?

Lmao it is not for the fan to wish that into existence.

If It happens, it is all great, we have been hit by surprise.

But wanting to sound like a wise ass, nah man, I know that is a thing but I want no part of that.

(This is like talking someone beautiful when you are drunk) (And I won‘t condemn you for doing that)
    (A bit pathetic)

If the Rockets think they can get Amen to a 30% 3pt shooter then he is, no doubt, a solid selection after Wemby and Scoot.
