I was there when they won the Turner Cup in 1999. It was absolutely deafening and electric in front of a sold out Summit...for minor league hockey.

I also have to admit their aesthetic had a lot of potential and was pretty badass in its own right.

Its fine... but with other teams renovating their arenas, its now in the lower half of NBA arenas in terms of fan experience, atmosphere, amenities, exterior atmosphere, on-site facilities, and surrounding area activities. I would imagine it would be even lower as a hockey arena as that was always questioned (even when the Aeros were there).

It was the last of the arenas/stadiums to be built... they cut out a lot of the planned add-ons for financial reasons. Its going to need major renovations/upgrades at some point to keep up with the rest of the NBA-quality arenas.

I remember my dad taking me to this new arena called The Summit to see Gordie Howe many times. I think he got a deal on Aeros season tickets because he already had Rockets season tickets. We sat in the same seats we did for Rockets games.

Exactly my experience going to Nuggets and Avs games regularly.

Agreed on the last point too

In the video of the history of the original Aeros the players and staff talked about how good the fan support was for the team and the games were well attended every night. The WHA just didn't have a chance like most upstart leagues because of lack of TV which I think the NHL had the same issues back then because I don't remember ever seeing hockey on tv growing up.

I was reading back through he thread and I admit I know little about trademark law. I saw where it says that the trademark wasn’t revived but as the last holder of the trademark does MS&E still hold some rights to the use of the name and logo? Could the Iowa Wild do a throwback game in that logo?

They’d have to show they’ve being using it continuously, I believe. And I don’t believe they have.

Las Vegas and Phoenix should be wiped off the map, and what the desert SW overpopulation has done to the Colorado River is a travesty.

Desert hockey still sounds ridiculous. So does Bayou hockey.
