Yeah, that was what was confusing since I interpreted it as "if you didn't graduate from high school, it's 1 year from your high school graduating class", but if he was still taking high school courses, is he still considered in high school? I assumed the latter and based it upon the highlighted portion. For the portion you were talking about, I assumed that was for people that just dropped out of high school (took no further high school courses) which doesn't seem to apply to Amen/Ausar. I'm not sure either way, tbh. He definitely was in his junior year while at Pine Crest, though. I think only his senior year was bypassed to go to OTE.
If the Rockets are in win now mode they are destined to fail. There is no real route to them being anything close to a contender.
20 years old 6' 5.75" (WITHOUT shoes) 217.0 lbs 6' 11" wingspan NAME THAT LEGEND ...?? Spoiler Spoiler: FATE OF THE UNIVERSE ON THE LINE
I respect that. I think you will find the G-League pushes the man to man defense to get film of players playing defense mano a mano......but in the NBA teams will guard Amen, Ausar, Scoot for the drive and dare them to shoot from 10 feet and beyond and be productive as predominately a jump shooter. They won't be guarded as tight as they were in the G-League. The G-League and NBA are going to be as different as night and day in that aspect. Unfortunately Amen is going to rumble the ball a lot, make errant passes, get his pocket picked often, and exhibit poor judgement as a result. Where have we seen this happen before? Oh yeah, KPj, Suggs, Fultz, and even with Cade Cunningham as a rookie. As KPj and Cunningham stats were very similar that season. Ultimately it comes down to spacing/3-pt shooting. If the Rockets are shooting dead last again at 32%.... No point guard is going to prosper. If the team shoots 36% from 3.... respectability. If the team shoots 40%.....the point guards will flourish. Don't be surprised if teams throw a lot of zone at Scoot, Amen, Ausar and then I'll ask......do you still think they are point guards?
Did you see teams play a lot of zone against Westbrook, Fox or Morant? Did you see anyone stop them from driving?
Not that it changes things too much, but Amen/Ausar don't play in the G-League. They play in Overtime Elite.
Anyone that doesn’t think Amen Thompson isn’t a point guard hasn’t seen enough of his games. Amen has exceptional court vision and is a natural point guard. He is especially special in that way because his size lets him see the floor better than most point guards and his athleticism lets him do things others cannot. He knows how to put spin on passes to control which direction to bounce will go. Questions about his shot are more than fair, but that’s about it. Even his age is similar to Brandon Miller. FWIW - I don’t think Amen will be on the board by the time the Eockets pick 4th.
If Jalen Green says the Ignite and the GLeague are way slower and softer than the NBA.....what do you think the OT Elites level is....... It is not even the skill level but the years he has lost, he could have played in a much better league.
Man that would be great if he's gone in the top 3. Means Miller or Scoot comes to us. That said the Rockets have to get Scoot.
Yeah I do think Amen will be able to drive to the basket in the NBA. Yeah, he will turn the ball over more often thatn we'd like, but he will also get to the basket with his athleticism. The question is, will he be able to finish against rum protectors and will he also be able to find the open man through traffic. I am confident about his passing (though again, he will turn the ball over more often than we'd like), but I am unsure about his finishing against tall, strong defenders.
