You are confusing two very different things. The glitches probably had nothing to do with infrastructure issues (God, if they did, Twitter is not in good shape). It was simply a load and capacity issue - it couldn't handle the bandwidth. It might have just been a problem with authenticating a massive number of users in a short period of time. Twitter Spaces was probably never designed to handle such a massive audience. It was a failure of management to not be well prepared with a simple test ahead of time. Musk himself said weird things like decommissioning servers from physical closet spaces at Twitter headquarters. I had no idea what he was talking about, but I wouldn't have found it too surprising if he did cut down on redundancy and capacity for cost saving, which then have contributed to the glitch yesterday.
Agreed, it was a very safe space for tiny ron to give his speech and then take softball questions, from all accounts I have read he doesn't interact well with real questions from real reporters who tend to get under his skin, so in that regard tiny ron had a safe space to announce........unfortunately all anyone will take away from this is a failure and he shot himself in his elevated cowboy boots
There are no ethical requirements on Twitter Spaces. They obviously coordinated and planned who would ask questions. It would be strange if they didn't also plan ahead of time on the questions or topic. It felt very safe. It was misleading how Musk marketed it as an unscripted Q&A.
Twitters stack is an absolute mess. This isn't a 'add a bunch of servers, CTL-C/CTL-V and fixed' as you are implying. On one hand, you're stating that Twitter Spaces was not designed to handle such a load (which is more correct- its closer to prototype than full release) and then on the other you are stating it was a failure to prep. What has been suggested is a massive bot attack designed to disrupt the event. This of course means a significant amount of initial numbers were bots. Musk upon purchasing Twitter: Twitter stack is an absolute mess. It is going to take time to rebuild. Deep cuts are needed for survival. It will be a very painful process. Critics: OMG! A problem! Musk doesn't know what he is doing. He is a fraud and failure and a scammer who steals ideas and only buys companies.
I don't doubt the financial so much but when Musk say something on technical caps, I don't believe it anymore. It really foolish to TBD. Their infrastructure might have been a mess. I don't know. Didn't follow it closely. Bot attacks as in DDOS? Again, BW issue. Whatever it is, it's simply something that could have been tested ahead of time. That falls on management.
I find this particular conversation interesting. I tuned in. I had no expectations of a flawless event. Once the spaces were switched to a different account, it was near flawless. I have been in many spaces over the last couple years and experienced plenty of technical issues with a fraction of the listeners. You did not tune in. You admit you dont follow it closely. But you are at the front with excess criticism for something that had no effect on you. I look for progress. you look for failure. Anecdotal, those who seem more engaged in politics tend to be much more critical/look for failure.
Could you imagine if this happened to Biden. It would be the major trust to the anti-Biden campaign for the next year. Every day on Fox News, and congress would probably want to investigate it and tie it to Hunter Biden and China. Then they would use it to try to prove Biden wasn't mentally competent for the job. But since it's DeSantis - well, it must be the liberals who launched an attack!
When I said I didn't follow it closely, I was referring to the Twitter infrastructure. It seems that you have somehow connected that to my lack of tuning in to Twitter Space and made assumptions about how I perceive things. There are simply too many assumptions being made, which is quite typical of you. My judgment on Musk's technical opinions is based on years of observation. I'm probably one of the few here who has closely followed him since the very beginning. My assessment of what happened yesterday is based solely on the events of that day. Technical glitches are not uncommon; they happen. However, for a highly publicized marketing event, one should be prepared. I don't understand why you have such an issue with that perspective. It's almost as if you are personally attached to Musk's Twitter and feel the need to defend it for such a simple mistake. I evaluate both progress and failures. When Musk first took over Twitter, I looked forward to the changes he might bring. Social media is a challenging area to tackle, and I thought Musk might be capable of doing so. I criticized the lack of verification and the confusion caused by blue marks. When you mentioned subscriptions, I said it could work. Regarding video, I didn't see its value. As for Twitter Space, I stated that it was unlikely designed to handle the load from yesterday and expressed the opinion that better preparation should have been made. I suggested Musk step down and hire a CEO to run Twitter, which he has actually done himself. I don't view any of these opinions as unfair takes at all. I've silently assumed that you are defending Musk because there aren't many other posters here who would do so without trolling. I actually find it valuable to see that perspective here. Still see it that way but also now think you are being a bit too sensitive.
But that's what he does. He takes it every personal and defends any criticism towards Mus/Tesla/now Twitter, whether valid or not...
@Space Ghost thinks *Musk made a brilliant move buying Twitter at a huge premium *but also that its technology was garbage *but also Musk was smart to deprioritize investment in technology Folks, that's the rare "trilemma of jackassery" - much respect.
I clearly understand your criticism. You have expectations. Not everyone shares those expectations. Further, your expectations have no merit as you were not disadvantaged...unless you were tuning into the event. Standing afar and being a critic has zero value. I understand Musks philosophy regarding engineering on the fly. It has its merits and it has its drawbacks. It seems you expect thorough testing and perfection on the delivery. I dont find value in that in this particular instance. I want Musks vision of Twitter to succeed. I will support its accomplishments. I do not think we need media establishments dictating what they deem is 'safe' for the populace to ingest. Fortunately both types can exist. For those who feel the chaotic 'citizens journalism' is too scary and risky, they can stick to Fox News or CNN.
I am so confused by that message, what the hell is he talking about................big red button as in the Nuclear button. I know he doesn't drink but dam this looks like a drunk text
Desantis political career is gonna take a nose dive after a round with Trump. Could have just waited 4 more years and if Trump avoids jail time, desantins just earned himself a future endorsement.
