oh look, all pieces of literature written by or about minorities

that POS said that women’s poem had “hate messages” and “indoctrinates children” as the reason…A complete load of BS, so why are they doing anything to begin with?

these officials can take their little PR statement and shove it up their ass

there's two separate issues here: 1) the ignorant person's complaint; and 2) the school system's "response" if it can be called that

Moving it is idiotic. The Hill We Climb is absolutely appropriate for any student able to read it. It was banned from younger readers.

not sure that is an accurate statement. Books are shelved in schools according to age and reading levels all the time

The sad part is ron and the gop like him want this to be the norm in the USA, its like we have stepped back in time. I know this might play well in Florida as they seem to lap this crap up, but I HOPE it would not fly on a national level.............but these days I am not so sure. It pisses me off that these racists POS have this much power....................

Is a 3rd or 4th grader still able to have access to this book and read it?

they just validated that POS’s nonsense that the poem does indeed have hate messages and indoctrinates children…the same POS who hangs out with the Proud Boys, an actual hate group

these school officials are all spineless cowards and a disgrace…what a sorry bunch of pathetic losers

anything that has to do with a minority is being challenged to get removed from classrooms and libraries

The article said it was more appropriate for middle school and moved the book for them. Nothing in the piece is inappropriate for 4th or 5th graders that have an interest in reading it.

Signed on to Twitter Spaces for "big announcement." It's crashed and still hasn't started. What an epic fail on the part of Twitter and DeSantis. lol

We should move any book that mentions god, Jesus, or Christianity to the adult only section. That would be consistent with complaints about not indoctrinating children.

That's the problem with letting individual parents have so much say on what books any kid can access. ultimately you will dumb down education to the least offensive denominator. If you let parents complain because they don't want their kids to be exposed to black history, then eventually it's just going to result in all history being inoffensive. Conservatives shouldnt play this game, they don't realize it is actually this kind of stuff that sets the stage for more intolerance by both sides in education and academia.

The effort to bring god, Christianity, and more white culture / less world culture back into the classroom (and yes that is what right wing people here in Florida want), is going to pave the way for more censorship from the other side as well. Because they will use the same logic to push their agenda.

He's a joke and Trump is already on that ass...

“Look, Rob DeSanctimonious came to me asking for help. He was losing badly, by 31 points, to popular Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam,” he fumed.

“He was getting ready to drop out of the race - Ran a terrible campaign! Ron told me he had one last chance, my Support & Endorsement, which Putnam, and everyone else, wanted also. I gave it to Ron, and the race was over. In one day, he went from losing badly, to winning by a lot. With 3 LARGE TRUMP RALLIES, he WON THE GENERAL ELECTION in an upset. DISLOYAL!!!”

Mr Trump continued in another post: “Ron DeSanctus can’t win the General Election (or get the Nomination) because he VOTED TO OBLITERATE SOCIAL SECURITY, EVEN WANTING TO RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE TO 70 (or more!), VOTED TO BADLY WOUND MEDICARE, AND FOUGHT HARD AND VOTED FOR A 23% “TAX ON EVERYTHING” SALES TAX. He was, and is, a disciple of horrible RINO Paul Ryan, and others too many to mention. Also, he desperately needs a personality transplant and, to the best of my knowledge, they are not medically available yet. A disloyal person!”

lol GOP primaries will be must see TV

announcing your run for presidency from Twitter spaces is pretty janky to begin with

I wonder what the actual endgame is tho because surely DeSantis must know he has no chance and will get absolutely clowned by Trump. I guess the question is, why?

There is a nonzero chance that Trump will be in jail by November 2024. That is Meatball Ron’s play.

I don’t think Trump’s people (or most people) realize this, but any felony conviction disqualifies a person from running for prez. So even if Trump is on house arrest or probation, if he’s a felon, it’s over.

I’ve heard different, but I am no expert. What I heard is that there is no constitutional requirement that the POTUS be free of felonies and ftm not be in jail.

There are a handful of felonies that will disqualify one from holding office. IIRC obstruction in classified documents cases is one, so Trump has that one teed up.

What a time to be alive!

Not disagreeing with you but to play devils advocate.. if this was some schmuck like DeSantis on the left doing this exact thing, the media would spin this into “it crashed because so many people wanted to see it and the servers overloaded!!!”
