I have not heard anything from any other teams ..... there maybe interests but definitely not on the Scoot level.

It is pretty easy to understand the comment, don't die on that hill, you have so many hills to die on, just do not die on that one hill.

It is time to take someone more solid and not a raw deal.

Why is it so hard for the Rockets to pick one player that can do it all instead of just players with flaws.

Which guy that we have is our franchise player then? Or which guy do you think is more "solid" then Thompson but can legitimately become a superstar?

Didn't you get the memo.... they are in Phase 1.50 or 2.0.....You are very llikely not getting a superstar, at best Amen can shoot and makes a pair of All Star games but that is a long shot.

Do you take anything the owner says at face value? Just because he says he wants to win a championship, does he win one in the foreseeable future?

I rather take someone like Jarace, Whitmore, a strong class of SF and PFs.

And let the players work out a hierarchy. Be realistic and stop shooting for the moon when it is not Wemby.

If Amen is really that popular among teams which I doubt at the moment, take him for another team of course, but you got to have the INTEL.

I don't think Orlando would trade Franz for #4 straight-up.

Well, if I'm not at least getting a great young prospect like Wagner I'm not even considering trading back from #4 if I'm the Rockets. Funny that the league consensus seems to be so much higher on Amen Thompson than some of y'all. Would think that would make you at least reconsider your views.

Guys are way too invested in someone else's development as well.

It is way more soothing when draft day deals happen without the Rockets though.

#4, #20, Christopher and Tate for Jaylen Brown.

Brown would have to tell Celtics he is NOT coming back and tell all the other teams he plans to sign with Rox in 2024 if Celts trade him some place other than Htown.
Rox would need to have $40M in space for 2024 (so cannot sign lots of multi-year players this off-season) to be a threat.
Not impossible... especially how Celts are playing right now.

I think this might happen. I think Brown wants to play in market like Houston. Diverse and similar to his home of Atlanta. We know he likes Ime as well.

Walker is actually quite good. IMHO

If you're looking at talent over positional value then I would pick Walker. But I'm quite certain y'all know these prospects better than I do.

I doubt they want #4, but I bet we can acquire Siakam for them and frankly Siakam would be a great fit there next to Tatum.

Maybe something more like #4 and #20 for Siakam and a contract they want to dump (normally costs a FRP).

Then Siakam and Tate for Brown. That's a great deal for them if Brown commits to Houston, they would be lucky to get it.

The only reason I don't think this is likely is because Brown seemed to care a lot about getting the supermax and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe only the Celtics can offer him that.

Yep only the Celtics can offer supermax. Im not convinced they will. Nor am I convinced he wants to stay there.

No way in hell I am doing that UNLESS there is an extension involved

Of course…. If brown is traded, the likelihood is about 95% he is traded to a team with an extension in place. No one he’s going to give up value for one year and the prospect of him leaving.

I went through the names. There are ~50 players under contract in the NBA that are even arguably worth the #4 pick or more, taking into account age and contract:

After eliminating the unacquirable stars and young players, and the players on expiring contracts that have zero incentive or possibility to resign in Houston, that leaves 8 players. 6 of those would require a longshot organizational shift for them to be available (Bridges, LaMelo, Trae, Bane, Ingram, Markkannen). I’d put those odds <10%.

That leaves 2: Jaylen Brown and Darius Garland.

Jaylen has been discussed ad infinitum on here, and a trade seems possible if he doesn't get offered the supermax. We'd be competing with Portland, Atlanta, Memphis, New York and everyone else.

Garland is underdiscussed as a target IMO. Young, great shooter and floor general, and locked up long-term on reasonable money. Cleveland has reason to consider moving him because their two small guards + two centers team construction is seriously flawed, demonstrated by their loss to the Knicks, and they are otherwise asset poor. Cleveland would want a defensively solid combo guard and a skilled wing in return. We don’t have that to offer, but here's a scenario it could happen in a 3 way trade with Chicago (who want to rebuild). (Not saying this is my preferred path, I like Sengun, this is just a hypothetical construction)

    Chicago out: DeRozan and Caruso
    Chicago in: #4 and Sengun

    Cleveland out: Garland
    Cleveland in: DeRozan and Caruso

    Houston out: #4 and Sengun
    Houston in: Garland

We could then use our FA money on shooting and defense at the 3 and the 5 (overpay for Cam Johnson and Brook Lopez on a short term deal).

    Garland / Green / Cam J / Jabari / Lopez

    KPJ / Tari / KJ / #20 / vet / vet / vet

Garland is an interesting thought. I haven't heard any whispers that he might be available, but he's an underrated player with considerable upside to move into the next tier of stars as he enters his prime.

Love the creativity... it would be one of the most out of the blue trades I have ever seen. But stranger things have happened....
