Alp is 6’10 with 7’1 wingspan.
Not elite but a 3” differential isn’t terrible. Same measurements as Jabari.
The issue is Alp has a longer neck so his standing reach isn’t as high.
He has to work on using his feet like he’s capable of.
While he’s not an explosive guy he’s not a below average athlete. He’s got to maximize his potential and get stronger along with developing consistent range if he wants to be a guy you can go to

Pre injury, Sabonis was one of the most athletic big men ever

Can't tell anything about his jumper from that. But I hope he has worked on having a quicker release and has more confidence in his jumper. If he does those two things, I think the shooting %age will climb.

I just ran a "sengun wingspan" search on google and used the graphic and info provided. They had him at 6'11 height with a 7 foot wingspan. If he has better measurables then thats cool. The neck thing is a whole new slant. The whole team is pretty bad on defense so its not fair to go in on any one guy i'll admit that, but I feel comfortable when I say that Sengun is not a 'good' defender yet and he has his warts just like everyone else. Like you said a good portion of that should shore up with an emphasis on strength training and just playing more ball with his teammates.

    Yeah the Wikipedia link.

Predraft there were measurements of 6’9 with 7’0.5 wingspan. He’s definitely grown but he’s not 6’11.

Either way not below average length and not elite. Not below average athleticism and not elite.
He has to maximize his physical potential and at same time perfect his skillset/shooting/defensive footwork and responsibility.
Where he does shine physically is dexterity, balance and flexibility. Not traditional athleticism but athleticism nonetheless.

My hope is Ime holds the team accountable, the team plays better team defense. That will help all involved.

I know you’re not a fan of Ime but I do think he can do that

And as far as the neck, he’s like the inverse of Joey Dorsey. Low shoulders and long neck vs high shoulders and short neck.

If Alpie only has to defend 4 feet around the basket he's "OK" .. in space he's bbq chicken. Literally hunted by scorers whenever possible. He's so damn good on offense though you can live with it. He doesnt need to be a perfect player - just need to get all the right moving parts on the team working in unison.

Udoka is a good coach - my reservations come from a purely subjective moral difference between what he did and how some people are cool with it. I've moved on and ready to see him implement the coaching changes necessary to usher in a better era of basketball. Winning cures all.

I’m there with you on the immoral side, winning does cure all. Some things can’t be forgiven, his is the gray area.

I hope he is the truth and not a one year wonder. I’m tired of having bad teams besides the Astros

Tbh with you in a world where 6'9 Harford even Green can play center height shouldn't be in discussion. If Sengun was a finished product his height might have been an issue yes but he is 20, has active hands and can actually block the shot so i don't understand the anxiety this fanbase has. Let's talk about this **** 3 years later.

Yes, no doubt...and 7'3"! He still reminds me more of the father than the son.

Sabonis Sr. was one of the greatest passing big men of all time. And he could shoot 3s. Before he blown out his knee he was one of the best basketball players of the world. Too bad the Soviet Union didn't let him play in the the NBA.

The team had a coach who would suck coaching Little Dribblers since Sengun arrived. The entire defensive "system"(lol) was an utter joke under Silas. Some players did not even attempt to play any defense. We now have a coach who has proven he can coach defense and will hold players accountable who do not even try on the defensive end. Why not give it a year under Udoka before writing off Sengun?

Cool - so we're going to give the whole roster a year under Udoka before writing any of them off yeah?

Sengun's a pretty damn good passer, and if I was a betting man, I'd wager he adds the three.(eventually 34% at minimum)

Yeah, Arvydas was really something. A shame he didn't get into the NBA before he was a shell of what he was.
