Weird. The first time I heard the "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream", it was in the 1980's. I was overseas and it was from someone who spoke broken English. I had no idea it was a song. lol.
Sale Alert Kroger’s is selling Blue Bell half gallons for $3.99 for Labor Day weekend. You have to buy multiples of 2, though.
Tom Thumb has their signature brand 1.5 quarts for 0.88 cents each limit 2 per digital coupon and reward card members. They are normally 2.99 each. Their ice cream is acceptable. I like the strawberry cheesecake and pistachio.
Blue Bell new flavor: Dr. Pepper Float Let us know if you try it and how it is. Too much sugar for my blood. It's got not only sugar but corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup (one of those wasn't enough apparently (lol)) as well as cream, natural and artificial flavors (we all love those mystery flavors), stabilizers (you know...the gums that you don't chew on apparently), and annato color (hmm...guess that's better than red dye #whatever?).
I'm 99.9% sure that all Blue Bell flavors have all that junk in them. I've had to give up on Blue Bell. Really, at my age, I've had to give up on almost all ice cream. Womp, womp.
Blue Bell was great until I discovered it had HFC or transfat in some flavors. Down with HEB icecream whenever I visit tx.
I don't **** with ice cream much but I was at a Texas river town (forget which one, something close to San Marcos) a few months/years ago and there was an ice cream shop in the little town (Amy's maybe?). They had a BIG RED flavor and it was aight. Lots of "craft" ice cream spots blowing up in H-Tine lately. https://www.undergroundcreamery.com/ might interest you if you're into working your ass off to get your hands on some ice cream.
I just can't support Blue Bell anymore after that whole listeria scandal. I can't believe people in Texas were so quick to forgive....I can't even say forgive, more like ignore that whole episode. BB hides behind a little girl and a cow and the whole 'Texas individualism' culture, but they are just a corrupt corporation like all the others. Sorry, I just watched another documentary on Vice about this the other day. It pissed me off all over again and it didn't even scratch the surface.
(No you did not put that over the middle of the plate -- er, bowl.) Blue Bell lovers are used to scratching the surface! Spoiler
I normally get the HEB brand ice cream but had to try this so I picked up some Saturday and it was really good, not sure I will buy more but it was a nice treat
I like HEB's seasonal flavors like Apple Pie or Honey Sopapilla, but their regular flavors don't compare well to Blue Bell for me.
HEB's mexican hot chocolate is the bomb. I want to try the Honey Sopapilla when head back to TX in June for a visit.
I'm right there with you. It's funny, when the initial reports came out about the listeria I didn't get too upset about it. I was one of those people that forgave them and moved on. Then one day I sort of fell down the rabbit hole reading up on the whole situation and became aware of just how negligent the company was and how perfectly fine they were with that. Really pissed me off and I've been against them ever since. But if people are still really wanting to eat Dr Pepper float ice cream, just go to Whataburger and have a Dr Pepper shake. They are glorious. Probably just as good as the Blue Bell flavor.
