Those high school defenses must've been murder, too, because he wasn't known for shooting them in high school, either. He only took 1 a game and barely shot 40%. And that's from the under-20-foot 3 pt. line in high school and playing on a loaded Duncanville squad. He wasn't a long-range shooter in high school, then had to move further out in college, and shot them worse. I'm guessing in the NBA he'll have similar issues, at least initially.

My point was, you can't take 2 percentages of 2 different things and compare them directly like that. It's like all these people saying "well he shot 40% from 3 in college". Great. Now let's see what the guy does in the NBA because, hey, he shoots 40% on his 3's. Neither Black nor Thompson have ever been known for their 3 point shooting at any level.

I am fine with taking Amen - he has a way better chance of becoming a star. But he also has a way better chance to become a bust. Is he the best passer in the draft? Judging from scouting profiles it sounded like Black is a more natural passer. And Asuar actually had a better assists-numbers than Amen. I am just scared that we are blinded by his athleticism and bad competition. I don‘t want another head honcho that cares too much about his own stats and I kinda get that feeling from Amen - but like I said, I don‘t really know these players.

From watching tape, I'd say Amen is the better passer. He's a lighting-fast decisionmaker who makes some phenomenal reads, and on top of that the actual passing skill itself--velocity, accuracy, touch--is the best in the class by far. OTE being an unstructured mess probably helped Amen as a scorer but hurt him as a playmaker.
