The rules are when trading for a Star you must give up a young star, other good players and draft picks. Either Jalen or Sengun would have to go. Boston really do not want to sign him for a Super Max contract, they respect Tatum but not Brown. Trade: Rockets receive: Brown Celtics receive: Tate, KPJ, Sengun or Jalen and KPJ and 4 draft picks they cannot take both young stars
people really acting like Jalen Green would need a miracle to reach Jaylen Brown’s level I call bullsh*t
Man, Gobert and Jrue Holiday ****ed up the trade market. No way in hell is Brown worth that large of a package.
Will almost certainly coast the Rockets 200 million dollars. Pick 4 and Green. No thanks. He looks like he has no answers for Struss and Gabe Vincent guard him straight up one on one.
If he wants to come here as a FA next yr then cool. No need to give up any of the core plus picks, when you're not going anywhere next year.
To become something like the 20th-25th best player in his league is definitely within Green's reach. Outside chance that could even happen this season--third year in the league is historically a good time for big breakouts from young guys. And people who think Brown is better than that are overrating him. People talk like this guy is Jimmy Butler, when really he's more like a poor man's Paul George. Passing/playmaking matters. Scoring efficiency matters. You can't just say "This guy scores 26 and plays great defense" and leave it at that. Anyway, it's all irrelevant--people should stop bumping this thread. There is essentially zero chance that Jaylen Brown becomes a Rocket any time in the next 12-15 months.
I don't understand why we insist on overrate players from other teams and underestimate our young players. Jaylen Brown is not a superstar in this league and he never will be. He is a very good player who is looking for a superstar salary. Stop proposing stupid trades for a player that Boston will probably show him the exit door by not making room for his salary claims.
Jalen Green will be better than him under Udoka soon…. Just sign Harden to a 3yr $130-150m deal and let the youth develop with him facilitating the offense. Stop focusing on championship aspirations, it’s not happening no time soon as our players are still young and no actual SUPERSTARS are available for trade or in free agency. Even if we get both Jaylen and Harden while keeping Green, do you think that’s enough to win as we’d have to give up Jabari or Sengun along with KPJ as well and more picks down the line with no cap space. Harden is definitely on the decline and will retire soon but is still a great POINT GUARD. After harden retires or goes on a steep decline, will Jaylen Brown, Green and Jabari or Sengun attract a big fish? After 2 years of Harden, your key guys will be up for a pay extension but can be signed through bird rights, use that summer to go all in on a big fish as the attraction will be a team of young players with young stars with plenty of cap space in a big city with a great coach, but in the meantime just develop the youth with a facilitator and decide on either to move up for Brandon Miller as a Scoot selection is pointless if Harden comes or trade down for more picks. Would love a Utah trade for their two picks and possibly package 16, 20 and Tate to move up while keeping pick 9. Harden will get these guys open looks and Udoka will not fail these guys. By 2024/2025 these guys will understand winning and playing as a team, that’s when it’s time to dominate the league for a decade with all these FRP’s we drafted and plenty of cap space
Everyone gets too high or too low after games these days. Brown looks to be checked out, but that's not been a norm for him in his career. He definitely seems to be done with Mazzula. I bet Boston makes some big moves this offseason, though Brown's extension may be less of a shoe-in than it looked to be last week. I think his history with Ime and his history as a winner/2-way player should override any questions about "is he a #1?" because honestly, he's close to one and we aren't going to be contending next year.
Why trade assets for a player you can sign outright in a year without having to give up anything if he truly wants to be here? Even if we add Brown this year the team is not going to even sniff contention. The youngsters finally have a real coach. They can finally start to grow in their careers after wasting the last few years under the tank commander. Lets see what Ime can do with the kids this year and keep our assets.
