well said…I want to see how these young guys will play and respond in playoff/meaningful games, and I’d ideally like to see it before we go and hand out max/big money extensions
i dont get how people dont understand Jalen, bari and Sengun playing next to harden will make them better but it will be as role players because Harden will dominate every action and be weird when you ask him to do anything else. Harden will never take a backseat to anyone. I have no desire to see harden doing the same thing over and over again. Imagine Harden setting a pick to get someone open for a shot. wont happen ever.
How come Kyrie, KD, and Russ weren’t just role players next to Harden? Jabari has a role player skillset to begin with How come Maxey averaged 21 shots a game playing next to Harden when Embiid and his 37% usage rate was out the lineup? How come Maxey averaged more shots than Harden in the regular season and playoffs this year, and he’s not even close to as talented as a Jalen Green.
if you’re a player with some game and good scoring ability, you’re not just some spot up role player next to James Harden y’all the types to say that Harden would turn younger Devin Booker into nothing more than a 3 point shooter who never touches the ball
I think the stories coming out are designed to get Philly to pony up in a sign and trade, or to commit to a max deal for Harden.
One of these guys...Jalen, Bari, or Sengun will either be glorified role players or ONE of them will become a legit all-star. There's always enough room for two all-stars on any given team, sometimes even 3, so I don't see the issue there. Plus, I got faith in Ime. The offense will be run through Harden and Sengun (I Imagine) while Bari and Green (Or whoever is left on the team) will hopefully feast. I just don't see any other move that can get us competing for a play-in spot other than this.
You talking bout HOF players Reeko!!!! and it was still a your turn my turn type of offense they were running. They were all playing as though their greatness was going to pull them out of the fire and it failed multiple times with harden. Because harden would wait and watch after he passed to those HOFers and do nothing else. Same with Philly, Harden has the ball, cook a little, than pass to open player to shoot. Maxey was shooting so much because he was faster and open. When it was time for Maxey to take over when harden was being dumb, he didn't know what to do. that switch never turned in his head he was looking at harden to do something and we know harden be tripping. I dont want jalen thinking he should defer to harden, because he will just like he did with KPJ. SenHub got the ball you think Harden cutting to the basket?? hell no.
I got faith in Ime too but Harden is a coach killer because the dude is stubborn. i'll never forget harden letting CP3 die on the court and did nothing to change his game to even try to help him out when CP3 couldn't ISO. Harden think he's the team, he dont play team ball.
Maxey is no HOF player So none of the young players on this team will get “their turn” playing next to Harden? I already posted what BK’s offense was like with Harden running point: 7th in apg, 11th in pace, 12th in 3 point attempts, 4th in screening frequency on offense, 9th in dribble handoff frequency, 6th in cutting frequency…it wasn’t a bunch of dudes just standing around doing nothing while Harden ISO’d his man more like Maxey was looking at Harden and Embiid to do something, the same Embiid who won MVP, takes the majority of the shots, and calls for the ball on the block almost every possession Idc if Harden’s not cutting backdoor for Sengun, there’s other players on the court…hell, no one on the current roster can even get Sengun the ball because they all suck at passing and recognizing mismatches half the time KPJ was freaking dribbling right into Sengun off the PnR as he was trying to get the defender on his hip in the paint this is 33 y/o James Harden, not MVP top 5 player Harden…if Jalen Green is always in deferring mode, then that’s his own damn fault and he needs a mindset adjustment
Cmon Ben, there are a lot of reasons not to be tied to a super max contract for a player in his 30s unless it's short term (read: less than 3 years.)
Imagine getting upset that the most elite playmaker and passer of his generation - inserted into the league's most moribund and desolate halfcourt offense - is not getting enough Rudy Gobert calber screen assists It's enough to drive a weird middle aged man insane to the extent he whiles away entire days ranting into the ether about the Rockets former coach who left months ago
All this talk of Jalen, Bari, and Sengun benefiting from playing with James. KPJ will be helped immensely.
I don't understand a MF's thought process when he sees James Harden get 9 points 3-11 shooting in a game 7 and thinks, "hell yea, let's pay this dude the max!" Harden deserves 15mil per year at the VERY MOST for ditching this franchise, ****ing us over by making Morey trade CP3 for his best buddy Westbrick who ditched us a year later. **** Harden and his dick riders. Harden only fans are just about as delusional as Carmelo only fans. This isn't someone who brought you a championship, if it was, it'd be a whole different story. The only thing this dude accomplished while he was here was crumbling under pressure in key playoff moments/games all the while get himself paid enough to be close to be a billionaire.
Jalen green has to the take the team from him and ur right..if he deferring it's on him ..if green takes the leap..then harden is automatically go backseat and then if sengun takes it too harden is gonna be forced to be 3rd option
The thought process, I believe, is that Tilman's legacy of being a league doormat has made us yearn for the days of playoff chokes.
