The last two pages of this thread is why even though my family came here legally, I was born here and my family has done well here this issue is still concerning. When someone justifies suspicion of a group of Chinese fleeing the oppressive PRC by citing an uptick of shootings by Asian Americans. A couple of individuals who happened to be here legally and in one case who had been here for decades. Also let’s not forget that Asian Americans numerically have far more likely been the victims of shootings and other attacks including in the Allen mass shooting last week. And for the record I’m for more firearm regulation for everyone including Asian Americans.

Even though the amount of mass shooters are a minuscule amount compared to mass shooters overall or the Asian American population. Many mass shootings are done by people of European descent. Would you agree then that we should be suspicious of people of European descent? Al I suspicious of all these people sneaking in? Not all. The vast vast majority of them are here for the same reason that your and my ancestors came here. For the chance for a better life. I’ve made this point many times if our immigration policy matched the supply and demand curve it would be much easier to separate those who wanted to do harm to us from those who are just fleeing governments lien the PRC or just want to work and build a better life.

Capturing bad people and drugs is the point of CBP. Whether they arrest 5 vs 500 the point is mute. Numbers go up and down. The point is we have good policies that deter future crossings.
