They aren't stars (at least right away) so what is your point hence "typically" do you need a definition of typical. Being outside of top 3 picks hurts your chances of getting a star. That is logic. If the lottery was setup based on worst record the rockets would have had Paolo, Cade, or Scoot. Better prospects to be stars.

You have Luka, Ja, Zion and LaMelo in the past decade. That's it. And one of them has severe off the court issues and another one never can stay healthy. Maybe this is a result of a bunch of old heads who are used to seeing 22 year olds being the high end draft prospects who spent 3-4 years in college ball before joining the NBA where they are more refined. Maybe some people are just not used to seeing 19 year olds play.

Why do you think Cade is more likely to be a star than Green? This is why Green should have inversed his scoring splits his rookie year and had a great first half and a bad second half because that's how Banchero is so massively overrated now. Dude ended up with a worse scoring efficiency than Green in their respective rookie years on similar averages and yet one is a near unanimous rookie of the year and the other is trashed on by NBA media as a Jr Smith incarnate.
